There is part of the children’s population who experiences, in the language-acquisition field, an unparalleled and unique phenomenon: they are youngsters who arrive in Italy through international adoption. When they arrive, they are effectively legal citizens. However, at first Italian appears to be a foreign language which, gradually, is going to become a second language and, eventually, is going to turn into a second mother tongue. This process is extremely fast but it is also painful even because, along the way, the biological mother tongue is notched and replaced by the new adopted language. Often, these youngsters display to have linguistic and communicative disorders caused, on the one hand, by the pre-adoptive conditions and, on the other hand, by the urgency to organize the new language. It is a peculiar and evocative process which entails the intersection of bonds, languages and cultural worlds which are normally distant and divergent. The choice of adoption – with its permanent traits – challenges the family, the siblings and the newcomer. Several studies have already deepened the psychological consequences which an adoption may imply, but little is known about the linguistic-communicative aspects. This publication aims to approach the linguistic and acquisitional data of the adoptive experience, in relation to the primary mother tongue and the new-secondary mother tongue. A field research, conducted in the province of Mantua, allowed us to hand out a questionnaire, to the adoptive parents, regarding the linguistic process which has affected their children once they have come in contact with our language. A reasoned vocabulary of the linguistic terms related to adoption supplies additional and operational information to teachers, educators and parents

At a time when increased independence requirements for auditors, legal backing for auditing standards, and increased audit documentation requirements have occurred, this book examines key issues in the market for audit services in Australia. It investigates issues including: the understandability of audit and the state of the audit expectations gap; auditors’ business acumen and industry expertise; the auditors’ use of materiality; whether or not the increasingly prescriptive nature of auditing is creating a distraction from the ‘real’ audit task and stifling auditors’ judgement; whether or not CLERP 9 reforms involving audit partner rotation and restrictions on non-audit service provision are efficient and effective and reactions to the increasing scrutiny of auditors and audit firms by regulators. With its thorough coverage of contemporary issues, this book intersperses the authors’ summaries, interpretations and recommendations with the perceptions, expressed in their own words in order to faithfully convey their candid assessments, of users of audit reports, purchasers and suppliers of the audit product, auditing standard setters and regulators of the audit market.

CC BY-NC-ND 4.0

The title of the Series «Sapere l’Europa, sapere d’Europa» voices the desire to investigate facets of the process of European integration without disregarding its most weighty, however controversial and bureaucratic, aspects, yet looking beyond them. The main intent is thus to make room for vision, feelings, imagination. In this fourth volume, Cultural Heritage. Scenarios 2015-2017, the different profiles of the CH, tangible and intangible, are undoubtedly presented in an international and interdisciplinary perspective. Yet, as the constant reference to the Faro Convention proves, “practices, knowledge and collective traditions” – be they nested or not in the humus of Venice and the Veneto Region – still distinctively taste of Europe.

This series takes account of the fact that empirical approaches based on qualitative or quantitative methods of corpus linguistics have become a central paradigm within linguistics. Usage-based approaches can be found on all linguistic levels, ranging from phonological and prosodic studies to those in the fields of morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics (the latter is especially prolific with, for example, discourse analysis, text linguistics or conversation analysis) as well as sociolinguistics and the analysis of media and computer-mediated communication. The series intends to offer a thematically open platform for different approaches within synchronous linguistics as well as for interdisciplinary works with a linguistic focus which devise new ways of working empirically and which intend to develop new data-based methods and theoretical models for empirical linguistic analyses. Both monographs and edited volumes with a synchronous empirical approach are published. The publication language is either German or English. All submissions are peer-reviewed. External Reviewers: Magnus P. Ängsal (Göteborg, Sweden), Michael Beißwenger (Duisburg-Essen, Germany), Pia Bergmann (Jena, Germany), Noah Bubenhofer (Dresden, Germany), Helen Christen (Fribourg, Switzerland), Waldemar Czachur (Warsaw, Poland), Ulla Fix (Leipzig, Germany), Karina Frick (Zurich, Switzerland), Stephan Habscheid (Siegen, Germany), Jörg Hagemann (Freiburg, Germany), Mathilde Hennig (Gießen, Germany), Katharina König (Münster, Germany), Alfred Lameli (Marburg, Germany), Jens Lanwer (Münster, Germany), Konstanze Marx (Mannheim, Germany), Marcus Müller (Darmstadt, Germany), Thomas Niehr (Aachen, Germany), Martin Pfeiffer (Freiburg, Germany), Hannes Scheutz (Innsbruck, Austria) Anja Stukenbrock (Lausanne, Switzerland), Georg Weidacher (Graz, Austria), Evelyn Ziegler (Duisburg-Essen, Germany), Alexander Ziem (Düsseldorf, Germany). Berlin 1933.

The English title of a recent book by renowned film scholar Yomota Inuhiko reads: “What is Japanese Cinema?”. In the preface to the English edition Yomota states that the direction we might take, should we try to provide an answer to the question, changes according to which word, “Japanese” or “Cinema” we choose to emphasize. When his survey reaches the recent past, the Japanese scholar describes the 2000s as “an era of chaos”. Starting from these questions and affirmations, and combining them with others made by scholars such as David Bordwell, Mitsuyo Wada-Marciano, Andrew Dorman and Mori Naoyuki, the following article attempts to explore a more specific doubt: “What is contemporary Japanese cinema”? In so doing, however, other questions arise, as we need to define when contemporaneity starts and what makes it different both from previous eras, and from the contemporaneity of other national cinemas. The further we probe, the more complex our definition becomes.

The Russian Revolution of 1917, which in reality consisted of several uprisings, forms the caesura between the »long« 19th and the »short« 20th century and ushered in the so-called »Age of Extremes« (Eric Hobsbawm). Many who had believed in the success of the revolution were bitterly disappointed by the actual developments. Once again, a revolution had not been able to achieve what many had expected, even longed for. The revolutionary uprising of February 1917 ended with its corruption in October of the same year. On the basis of an analytical comparative model, Frank Jacob addresses the question of the process of this corruption and shows whether it was due to an inevitable development of events or rather to the will to power of a few.

Der Tagungsband ist entstanden im Rahmen des Forschungsverbunds „Differenz(de-)konstruktionen in fachunterrichtlichen Kontexten“ des Schlözer Programm Lehrer*innenbildung der Universität Göttingen.; The question of how differences are constructed is relevant for diversity-sensitive teaching in all school subjects. The contributions in this volume ask how (which) differences are created in subject teaching practices. The contributions in this conference volume examine how orders of knowledge are negotiated in the classroom.
