A partir de las estrategias propuestas en el Plan Nacional de Desarrollo Urbano y Vivienda (pnduv) de 1984, en el que se establecieron como prioritarias 59 ciudades medias, este estudio evalúa la política adoptada en la década de los ochenta hacia esos centros urbanos. Un elemento central del análisis es la distribución de la inversión federal en los estados y la asignación por parte de éstos a cada uno de los sectores económicos. El trabajo llena en parte el vacío de estudios sobre las políticas estatales de los años recientes y su incidencia en las actividades económicas, los movimientos poblacionales, el esquema de distribución de habitantes y tareas productivas en el territorio mexicano, y la estructura del Sistema Urbano Nacional (sun).

Dieser Band beschreibt das Mediensystem im Alten Reich nicht als eine Summe einzelner Mediengeschichten, weist auch nicht auf die Faszination der Anfänge (»Erfindung« der Zeitung u.ä.) hin, sondern stellt den Zusammenhang der Medien untereinander dar, aber auch ihre Abhängigkeit von Infrastrukturen wie Post und Buchgewerbe. Nicht zuletzt wird der Blick auch auf die bisher wenig beachtete Leserperspektive gelenkt. Das Mediensystem des Alten Reiches wird somit als ein System angesehen, dessen einzelne Elemente miteinander in Verbindung standen und einander wechselseitig beeinflussten. Die Aufsätze befassen sich mit den buchbezogenen Gewerben und den Beziehungen der entsprechenden Berufsgruppen untereinander sowie mit der besonderen Struktur der Reichspost, die als Voraussetzung und Teil der frühneuzeitlichen Medienrevolution aufgefasst wird. Sie beschäftigen sich mit einzelnen, auch selten untersuchten Medien – geschriebenen Zeitungen, Flugblättern und Flugschriften; Hof- und Staatskalendern, gedruckten Zeitungen, Festbeschreibungen – und stellen diese Medien zugleich in die Zusammenhänge mit ihrer Produktion, der Beschaffung und Verbreitung von Nachrichten und der Aufnahme bei den Lesern.

This book deals with the Boolean model, a basic model of stochastic geometry for the description of porous structures like the pore space in sand stone. The main result is a formula which gives in two and three dimensions a series representation of the most important model parameter, the intensity, using densities of so-called harmonic intrinsic volumes, which are new observable geometric quantities.

This book ranges from the geologic-petrologic description of world-wide major volcanic fields unfamiliar to international literature, to the discussion and interpretation of the results in light of geophysical techniques. It focuses on several situations that represent large-scale volcanism on Earth, related both with intra-plate or active margins. Many large volcanic complexes of Easter countries are presented, including Japan, Siberian Russia, and Mongolia. A detailed account of the European volcanic province of the Pannonia basin and Central-Southern Spain is given. Southern hemisphere areas of Antarctica and Polynesia are considered as well. The chapters are very informative for those who wish for a guide to visiting, or are curious about main characteristics of the above volcanic areas, some of which are remote and not easily accessible.

In der Kunst lässt sich gegenwärtig eine Tendenz zu investigativen Recherchemethoden beobachten, um staatliche Verbrechen, Korruption und Machtmissbrauch zu rekonstruieren. Dies hat weitreichende Folgen für die Bildsprache: Mit dem aufklärenden Anspruch werden häufig visuelle Effekte der Nachvollziehbarkeit und Glaubwürdigkeit aufgerufen. Maria Sitte erläutert am Beispiel ausgewählter Filme des Kollektivs Forensic Architecture, welchen beglaubigenden Prinzipien ihre Bildästhetik verpflichtet ist. Die Untersuchung zeigt die Vielfalt verifizierender Darstellungsweisen ebenso wie problematische Bildpolitiken auf. Durch die Kontextualisierung mit Werken von Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Mario Pfeifer und Susan Schuppli werden divergente Konzepte investigativ engagierter Kunst erkennbar.

Wissen wird im (unternehmerischen) Wettbewerb zunehmend zur entscheidenden Ressource. Zunehmend dominiert der Wettbewerb um neue Märkte statt derjenige innerhalb einer gegebenen Marktumgebung. Ausdruck dieser Tendenz ist nicht zuletzt, dass immaterielle Schutzrechte geistigen Eigentums - allen voran die steigende Zahl der erteilten Patente - für die Unternehmen ständig wichtiger werden, um sich im Wettbewerb zu behaupten. In dem Maße wie jedoch die Bedeutung des "Geistigen Eigentums" steigt, nimmt auch die Gefahr zu, dass die damit verbundenen Ausschlussrechte zu wettbewerbswidrigen Zwecken eingesetzt werden und insoweit das Immaterialgüterrecht in Konflikt mit dem Wettbewerbsrecht, also der Aufrechterhaltung effizienten Wettbewerbs, gerät. Dies zeigt sich auch zunehmend an umstrittenen, die Schnittstelle zwischen beiden Rechtsbereichen betreffenden Gerichtsentscheidungen. Die Arbeitsgruppe "Wettbewerb" des Wirtschaftspolitischen Ausschusses im Verein für Socialpolitik hat deshalb ihre Jahrestagung 2006 der Beziehung zwischen dem Recht Geistigen Eigentums und der "klassischen" Wettbewerbspolitik gewidmet. Der vorliegende Band vereinigt die auf der Tagung gehaltenen Beiträge. Auf diese Weise wird die vor allem in den Wirtschaftswissenschaften bislang vernachlässigte Debatte über das Spannungsfeld zwischen Immaterialgüterrecht und Wettbewerbsrecht einem breiteren Publikum zugänglich gemacht.

Zn electrodeposition in the under- (UPD) and overpotential (OPD) ranges by means of in-situ Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) was examined, supported by in-situ cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometrie. The underpotential deposition of Zn follows a layer-by-layer growth. For the first time the formation of three successive Zn monolayers has been observed in the UPD range. It has been shown, that the UPD of Zn is complicated due to surface alloying. The same growth mechanism extends from the UPD into OPD range until Al bulk deposition sets in. The UPD of Al at 100 mV vs. Zn/Zn(II) is marked by Moiré pattern formation. For the first time in this system the effective tunneling barrier f has been measured by STS. A first insight into the 2D phase formation of electrodeposited Zn at the electrolyte / electrode interface was obtained from STM images at various times and potentials. Before a coherent layer is formed wormlike structures are observed characteristic of spinodal decomposition. This implies a first order phase transition, which has been resolved here for the first time for 2D electrodeposition.

This work is aimed at the national soccer (football) fan community. It is not limited only to stating names of sports events, players, associations and statistical data since, without wanting to dismiss the importance of the anecdotal element, it is even more edifying and beneficial to analyze the genesis of Costa Rican soccer (football) from a social perspective, based on its first reference in 1898, until 1921, the year in which it permanently and definitively acquired its federalization and the official status of national representation in the international arena.

Southwestern ceramics have always been admired for their variety and aesthetic beauty. Although ceramics are most often used for placing the peoples who produced them in time, they can also provide important clues to past economic organization. This volume covers nearly 1000 years of southwestern prehistory and history, focusing on ceramic production in a number of environmental and economic contexts. It brings together the best of current research to illustrate the variation in the organization of production evident in this single geographic area. The contributors use diverse research methods in their studies of vessel form and decoration. All support the conclusion that the specialized production of ceramics for exchange beyond the household was widespread. The first seven chapters focus on ceramic production in specific regions, followed by three essays that re-examine basic concepts and offer new perspectives. Because previous studies of southwestern ceramics have focused more on distribution than production, Ceramic Production in the American Southwest fills a long-felt need for scholars in that region and offers a broad-based perspective unique in the literature. The Southwest lacked high levels of sociopolitical complexity and economic differentiation, making this volume of special interest to scholars working in similar contexts and to those interested in craft production.

Knowledge about horses and horse breeding is a cultural asset, which has evolved over centuries. At the same time, it is an essential economic commodity. The anthropological focus on knowledge of this study is on the current parameters of breeding the “Hannoveraner”, one of the world’s largest and also most popular horse breeds. The author conducts participatory observations on agricultural family farms that breed them and follows the development of individual horses from birth to successful athletes. The aim is to identify the genesis and exchange of the various stocks and forms of knowledge. The guiding questions of the analysis are: What is equine knowledge and how is it currently changing? Equine knowledge accumulates between breeders and horses and the diverse other actors and entities of this multispecies constellation in their shared everyday life. Videographic vignettes and photographs open up further access to the, primarily incorporated, knowledges and practices of horse breeding in agricultural environments, which are at the center of the ethnography.

The Covert Life of Hospital Architecture addresses hospital architecture as a set of interlocked, overlapping spatial and social conditions. It identifies ways that planned-for and latent functions of hospital spaces work jointly to produce desired outcomes such as greater patient safety, increased scope for care provider communication and more intelligible corridors. By advancing space syntax theory and methods, the volume brings together emerging research on hospital environments. Opening with a description of hospital architecture that emphasizes everyday relations, the sequence of chapters takes an unusually comprehensive view that pairs spaces and occupants in hospitals: the patient room and its intervisibility with adjacent spaces, care teams and on-ward support for, and the intelligibility of public circulation spaces for visitors. The final chapter moves outside the hospital to describe the current healthcare crisis of the global pandemic as it reveals how healthcare institutions must evolve to be adaptable in entirely new ways. Reflective essays by practicing designers follow each chapter, bringing perspectives from professional practice into the discussion. The Covert Life of Hospital Architecture makes the case that latent dimensions of space as experienced have a surprisingly strong link to measurable outcomes, providing new insights into how to better design hospitals through principles that have been tested empirically. It will become a reference for healthcare planners, designers, architects and administrators, as well as for readers from sociology, psychology and other areas of the social sciences.

Der Band knüpft an die queertheoretischen Infragestellungen der zweigeschlechtlichen Ordnung an. Im Kontext der Vielfältigkeit geschlechtlicher und sexueller Identitäten sind Prozesse von Bildung, Erziehung und Sozialisation im Spannungsfeld von Normalisierung und Widerständigkeit gegenüber heteronormativen Identifizierungen der Geschlechter zu denken. Wie findet sich die Wirklichkeit queerer Geschlechterverhältnisse in pädagogischer Theorie und Praxis wieder und wie sind gendersensible Bildungskonzepte so zu erweitern, dass sie die Veruneindeutigung von Geschlecht zulassen?
