Geographies of Knowledge: Perspectives of Women Scientists in the Construction of a Sustainable Ibero-America brings together research that highlights the active role of women in transforming scientific practices and in linking knowledge to the social, territorial, and environmental challenges faced by our countries. The contributions span diverse fields—from the humanities and social sciences to education, organizational studies, and Earth sciences—and demonstrate how research conducted by women influences communities, institutions, and decision-making processes. Throughout its chapters, the book addresses themes such as women’s leadership, sustainability, food sovereignty, territorial development, entrepreneurship, and social justice, underscoring the importance of incorporating experience and a gender perspective into knowledge production. This volume goes beyond compiling research findings; it also reveals that knowledge is constructed within specific historical and territorial contexts. The trajectories, experiences, and positions of the authors broaden the understanding of contemporary issues and provide key insights for envisioning more equitable development alternatives. The “geographies” presented here refer not only to physical spaces but also to the social, cultural, and ethical dimensions of scientific practice. Taken as a whole, the book offers a plural vision of women’s contributions to Ibero-American science and emphasizes their central role in shaping more sustainable futures.

In the historiography of Spanish-language literature, the term ‘postmodernism’ is usually used to refer to the poetry of the late modernist period and the transition from modernism to the avant-garde. It was introduced by Federico de Onís in his monumental *Antología de la poesía española e hispanoamericana, 1882–1932* (1934) and has been in constant use ever since by literary historians, who nevertheless agree that it is a particularly problematic label, referring to a chapter of Spanish-language poetry that is as interesting as it is underappreciated and understudied. The book Poéticas del postmodernismo en Hispanoamérica y España, 1907–1922 (Poetics of Postmodernism in Latin America and Spain, 1907–1922) refocuses attention on this concept, reflects on its relevance to a more nuanced, dynamic and plural understanding of literary modernity in Spanish, and brings together studies by twenty-six specialists on as many collections of poetry that illustrate the poetic continuities and changes between 1907, when the consolidation of modernism coincided with the first signs of its decline, and 1922, the year already proclaimed as the annus mirabilis of the avant-garde.

Dizziness and vertigo are symptoms related to peripheral vestibular disorders. These are among the most common complaints in medical offices, and knowledge of the major diseases affecting this system is of fundamental importance to the specialist in otolaryngology. In recent years, great advances have been made in otoneurology, which, coupled with increasing knowledge in the field of neurosciences, have substantially modified the approach of the patient with balance complaints. This book studies the most polemic of these vestibular diseases, the Meniere's disease.

Write your program! is an introduction to programming. The book is based on the practical experience of basic computer science courses at universities and the training of professional developers. The approach of the book differs radically from other introductions to programming and consistently relies on didactically proven and comprehensible methods. The authors have continuously improved the selection of material and presentation over many years. The material has also benefited from the fact that it has been used in numerous courses in Tübingen and elsewhere and the feedback from these courses has been incorporated into improvements. It also forms the basis for almost all Active Group GmbH training courses on the subject of "Functional Programming".

The here collected contributions relating to the 46th International Conference of the Representation Disciplines Teachers, organized jointly by Sapienza University of Rome, Roma Tre University, and San Raffaele Roma University, aim to offer the scientific community a reflection on the theoretical and methodological aspects related to the concept of èkphrasis, a term that, in the field of representation, concerns descriptive, analogical, and digital activities that generate new knowledge in several areas of application. The Conference aims to place at the center of the discussion an interpretation of the concept of research that, without neglecting an idea of study, protection, and enhancement of environmental and cultural heritage, focuses on the needs of contemporary society and its possible developments, making use of innovative theoretical, methodological, and operational activities, including those characterized by an interdisciplinary approach. According to this interpretation, research can also be seen as a foreshadowing of the definition and testing of experimental proposals aimed at exploring new areas of investigation: this opens up imaginative and utopian perspectives in the relationship between the sciences, the arts, and the disciplines that contribute to common goals, through the experimentation of methods, techniques, and languages for conceiving, prefiguring, designing, and representing.

In a world increasingly defined by the transnational and translingual, and by the pressures of globalization, it has become difficult to study culture as primarily a national phenomenon. A Handbook offers students across Modern Languages an introduction to the kind of methodological questions they need to look at culture transnationally. Each of the short essays takes a key concept in cultural study and suggests how it might be used to explore and illuminate some aspect of identity, mobility, translation, and cultural exchange across borders. The authors range over different language areas and their wide chronological reach provides broad coverage, as well as a flexible and practical methodology for studying cultures in a transnational framework. The essays show that an inclusive, transnational vision and practice of Modern Languages is central to understanding human interaction in an inclusive, globalized society. A Handbook stands as an effective and necessary theoretical and thematically diverse glossary and companion to the ‘national’ volumes in the series.

Cold War legacies in Southeast Asia enable new geographies of enclosure In the twenty-first century, land deals in the Global South have become increasingly prevalent and controversial. Transnational access to arable land in impoverished "land-rich" countries in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia highlights the link between the shifting geopolitics of economic development and problems of food security, climate change, and regional and international trade. Drawing on ethnographic and archival research, Upland Geopolitics uses the case of Chinese agribusiness investment in northern Laos to study the unbalanced geography of the new global land rush. Connecting the current rubber plantation boom to a longer trajectory of foreign intervention in the region, Upland Geopolitics reveals how legacies of Cold War conflict continue to pave the way for transnational enclosure in a socially uneven landscape.

In Russia, civil society engagement with the petroleum sector is surprisingly rich and varied for a country that is ranked low on most democracy-related indicators. This chapter finds that there is a lively and varied public debate, with business associations, research institutes, independent experts, indigenous organizations and the few surviving independent media actively and often competently analysing and commenting on a broad range of issues related to the oil and gas sector. Russians were early users of social media, which occasionally also function as a platform for discussion of petroleum-policy issues. However, the real impact of civil society on decision-making and policy formulation in the petroleum sector is not as great as the diversity of actors and discussion might imply. One key reason is the tight government control over mainstream media outlets. The situation for free speech and civil society worsened steadily from around 2004 to 2016. As in neighbouring Kazakhstan, the Russian population puts a high premium on stability over freedom. While a central concern in this book is whether the media and civil society have any influence on the petroleum sector, in Russia the paradoxical situation is that the relationship is often reversed: the gas company Gazprom, rather than another organizational vehicle, is used by the government to control key mass media, and the oil company Yukos played a central role in promoting civil society until its main owner Mikhail Khodorkovsky was arrested and the company was carved up.
