Throughout this publication, the different authors-collaborators develop different issues related to education. Topics such as teacher motivation, innovation, the importance of teaching work or the development of teaching competence in different educational settings. On the other hand, they deal with education at different educational levels, specifically early childhood education and primary education, and relate them to the topics discussed. Bilingualism in education, sex and gender analysis of students and teachers, or professional opportunities are other topics addressed in this book. IoT applications perceive and interact with the environment via smart devices and cloud services. When operating such applications one is faced with the challenge of configuring the smart devices and the cloud services in a manner, which achieves a high data quality at low operational costs. This work supports IoT operators with IoT collection strategies and cost optimization functions for data qualities, which are influenced by the interplay of smart device and cloud service configurations.

The Internet has taken with its unlimited communication structures an outstanding role. In the process of globalization this creates not only the possibility for the integration of access to information independent from time and place, it also implies social changes with not yet known consequences. How is our society changing under these new communication structures? Is the "networked egoist" putting an end to the collective responsibility and to the sense of community? Or does networking provide the opportunities for the future development of civil societies, democracy, tolerance and peace?

Protected cultivation, also known as controlled environment agriculture or greenhouse cultivation, is a modern agricultural practice used to grow horticultural crops under controlled environmental conditions. This method provides several advantages, including protection from adverse weather, pests, and diseases, as well as the ability to optimize growing conditions for maximum crop yield and quality. It typically utilizes greenhouse structures that allow growers to control various environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, light intensity, and CO2 levels, maintaining ideal conditions for plant growth. This cultivation method is suitable for various horticultural crops, including vegetables, fruits, flowers, and ornamental plants, enabling year-round production, disease and pest management, extended growing seasons, improved crop quality, and prolonged post-harvest freshness.At present, the protected cultivation of horticultural crops has evolved significantly, with a strong emphasis on sustainability.

Questions concerning mobility and migration as well as subsistence strategies of past societies have always been of major importance in archaeological research. The West Eurasian steppes in the Eneolithic, the Early Bronze and the Iron Age were largely inhabited by cultural communities believed to show an elevated level of spatial mobility, often linked to their subsistence economy. In this volume, questions concerning the mobility and potential migration as well as the diet and economy of the West Eurasian steppes communities during the 4th, the 3rd and the 1st Millennia BC are approached by applying isotope analysis, specifically 87Sr/86Sr, δ18O, δ15N and δ13C analyses. Adapting a combination of different isotopic systems to a study area of vast spatial and chronological dimension allowed a wide variety of questions to be answered and establishes the beginning of a database of biogeochemical data for the West Eurasian steppes. Besides the characterisation of mobility and subsistence patterns of the archaeological communities under discussion, attempts to identify possible Early Bronze Age migrations from the steppes to the steppe-like plains in parts of Eastern Europe were made, alongside an evaluation of the applicability of isotope analysis to this context.

Kultureller Bildung wird als Erfahrungs- und Lernbereich ein bedeutsames Potenzial zugesprochen. Es besteht jedoch keine hinreichende empirische Evidenz bezüglich vieler mit kultureller Bildung verbundener Fragen: Mit welchen Angeboten kultureller Bildung an welchen Orten können welche Ergebnisse für wen erzielt werden? Wie können Prozesse und das komplexe Zusammenspiel ihrer Voraussetzungen und Wirkungen wissenschaftlich solide untersucht werden? In diesem Band werden in 24 Beiträgen Ergebnisse aus Forschungsprojekten präsentiert, die sich diesen Fragen widmen. Die Studien zu verschiedenen Genres, Räumen, Akteuren und Formen der kulturellen Bildungspraxis wie ihrer Grundlagen und Implikationen eröffnen neue Diskussionslinien zur Bedeutung und Komplexität kultureller Bildung. Methodologisch werden neue Wege ausgelotet und ausgehend von den empirischen Befunden vorliegende Erkenntnisse theoretisch erweitert. Die Studien wurden vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung gefördert.

Kai Evers’s Violent Modernists: The Aesthetics of Destruction in Twentieth-Century German Literature develops a new understanding of German modernism that moves beyond the oversimplified dichotomy of an avant-garde prone to aggression on the one hand and a modernism opposed to violence on the other. Analyzing works by Robert Musil, Franz Kafka, Karl Kraus, Walter Benjamin, Elias Canetti, and others, Evers argues that these authors are among the most innovative thinkers on violence and its impact on contemporary concepts of the self, history, and society.

En 2020, dans le cadre des enquêtes Génération, le Céreq a interrogé un échantillon représentatif des 746 000 jeunes qui ont quitté pour la première fois le système éducatif en 2017 à tous les niveaux de formation. La disponibilité de ces données a été l’occasion de mettre en place un groupe d’exploitation qui a réuni des chargé·es d’études du Céreq et de ses centres associés régionaux ainsi que des chercheurs et chercheuses d’autres organismes.Les différentes études ont abouti à des contributions originales sur des problématiques en lien avec les objets d’études et de recherches du Céreq. In fine, trois thématiques ont émergé de ces travaux et ont donné lieu à trois ouvrages.Ce tome traite des évènements et spécificités du parcours scolaire et leurs effets sur l’insertion.

Die Statistik der deutschen Volkshochschulen wird vom DIE seit 1962 jhrlich erstellt. Bei einer Ausschpfungsquote von rund 98 Prozent liegen im Berichtsjahr 2022 fr 826 der deutschen Volkshochschulen Informationen vor. Die Datenerhebung bezieht sich auf institutionelle Aspekte, Personal, Finanzierung, das realisierte Veranstaltungsangebot und weitere Leistungen der Volkshochschulen. Das Veranstaltungsangebot wird nach sieben Programmbereichen, im Fall der Kurse nach 85 Fachgebieten, thematisch differenziert und anhand weiterer Kursmerkmale beschrieben.Zustzlich zur regulren Erhebung wurde im vergangenen Jahr erneut eine Corona-Ergnzungsabfrage durchgefhrt. Diese hat eine Ausschpfungsquote von rund 62 Prozent und umfasste Fragen zu pandemiebedingten Einschrnkungen in den Bereichen Personal, Finanzen und Leistungen.Dieser Band enthlt 63 kommentierte Tabellen und 15 Abbildungen. Der Anhang umfasst eine bersicht der gesetzlichen Grundlagen der Weiterbildung in den Bundeslndern.

In diesem Open-Access-Buch wird untersucht, warum sich wohlhabende Gesellschaften merklich im Ausmaß sozialer Probleme wie z. B. Kriminalität oder mangelnde Wahlbeteiligung unterscheiden. In einer makrosoziologischen Untersuchung von 40 wohlhabenden Ländern über den Zeitraum 1990 bis 2020 werden neben der im Forschungsfeld dominierenden Spirit-Level-Theorie, welche auf Einkommensungleichheit fokussiert, vier alternative Erklärungsansätze herangezogen: Wohlstand, ethnische Fraktionalisierung, soziales Misstrauen und das gesellschaftliche Werteklima. In den Ergebnissen der Quer- und Längsschnittanalysen zeigt sich kein Beleg für einen zentralen Erklärungsmechanismus. Vielmehr beeinflussen verschiedene Determinanten bestimmte soziale Probleme unterschiedlich stark, wobei sich Unterschiede im Wohlstandsniveau als stärkster Prädiktor herausstellen. Die Studie zeigt somit, dass die Gestaltung einer guten Gesellschaft nicht allein eine Frage der Einkommensverteilung ist.

In diesem Open-Access-Buch führt Valentin Katter eine umfassende didaktisch orientierte Sachanalyse unter historisch-, logisch-, und individualgenetischen Gesichtspunkten durch, mit der es ihm möglich ist, systematisch sechs Grundvorstellungen zum Sinusbegriff zu identifizieren. Anhand detaillierter Videoanalysen zeigt der Autor anschließend, wie diese Grundvorstellungen genutzt werden können, um Denkprozesse von Lehramtsstudierenden in kooperativen Problemlösesituationen zu rekonstruieren. As we know, strokes are one of the world's leading causes of death, and the cruel aspect of a stroke is that it leaves people with severe functional disability and/or cognitive impairment. Strokes have a significant impact on economies worldwide, as it is estimated that about 10% of the male population and 8% of the female population are affected by them. Such people need personal help in their everyday life and must be materially supported by social services. With the advancement of medicine, artificial intelligence, and new technologies have been developing rapidly and are gradually applied in diseases of the nervous system, increasingly helping diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prognosis of disease.This Special Issue has collected the 14 papers on artificial intelligence and new technologies in strokes, including in the aspects of diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, rehabilitation, and nursing. Heterogeneous networks, as a critical component of modern communication technology, have experienced rapid development in recent years. The emergence of technologies like 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and edge computing has significantly enhanced the diversity and complexity of heterogeneous networks, making them pivotal for diverse application demands. However, the openness and diverse characteristics of heterogeneous networks expose them to serious security challenges. Such networks are vulnerable to attacks like Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, malware propagation, and jamming attacks, posing significant risks to system stability and data privacy. To address these pressing security challenges, researchers have developed a variety of defense strategies aimed at mitigating risks in heterogeneous networks. Compared to traditional approaches, these strategies exhibit several distinct advantages, such as the ability to efficiently handle large amounts of data while ensuring data security, flexibility in tackling various security challenges, and resilience against advanced and persistent cyberattacks. These approaches provide significant theoretical and practical support for improving the security of heterogeneous networks.

This book aims to study the history of the University of Tortosa from its canonical erection in 1600 to 1717, when it was transferred to Cervera. Through four chapters the place of the University of Tortosa in the set of the Universities of the Crown of Aragon is studied, through the proposopography of rectors, lecturers and graduates. It was a Convent-University run by the Order of Preachers that exclusively taught Philosophy and Theology. The documentary appendix includes the Statutes of the Colegio de San Matías and San Jaime, the Statutes of the University, as well as the list of graduates that has been preserved for the periods 1600-1623 and 1659-1717. Among them, there are numerous regular and secular clergymen from Valencia, Catalonia, Aragon and Mallorca.---Este libro pretende estudiar la historia de la Universidad de Tortosa desde su erección canónica en 1600 hasta 1717, año en el que fue transferida a Cervera. A través de cuatro capítulos, se estudia el lugar de la Universidad de Tortosa en el conjunto de las Universidades de la Corona de Aragón, mediante la proposopografía de rectores, lectores y graduados. Era un Convento-Universidad que estaba en manos de la Orden de Predicadores, y en el que se enseñaba exclusivamente Filosofía y Teología. El apéndice documental incluye los Estatutos del Colegio de San Matías y San Jaime, los Estatutos de la Universidad, así como la relación de los graduados que se ha conservado para los períodos 1600-1623 y 1659-1717. Entre ellos, se encuentran numerosos clérigos regulares y seculares de Valencia, Cataluña, Aragón y Mallorca.
