Razvoj Slovenije in njenih regij je zaradi naraščajoče vpetosti v globalne tokove vse bolj odvisen od globalnih izzivov, kot so podnebne in demografske spremembe, mednarodne migracije, gospodarska kriza ... Medijska izpostavljenost teh izzivov daje vtis o vsesplošnem poznavanju njihove problematike, kar lahko predstavlja težavo pri izvajanju razvojnih politik, zlati če politike med posameznimi ravnmi niso usklajene. Kot sta pokazali kar dve študiji, jasno prepoznanih mednarodno relevantnih procesov na regionalni in lokalni ravni ne znamo ustrezno vstaviti v razvojne koncepte. To je lahko na eni strani posledica prevelike abstraktnosti in preveč teoretskega pristopa k reševanju mednarodno relevantnih tem, ali na drugi strani ozkosti lokalnih in regionalnih deležnikov, ki obremenjeni z lokalnimi problemi ne znajo prepoznati globalno pomembnih procesov. V knjigi tako obravnavamo globalne izzive in njihovo vlogo v regionalnem razvoju, s čimer želimo prispevati k razpravi, s katero bo mogoče na strokovno podprtih temeljih izoblikovati medsebojno usklajene ter potrebam prilagojene razvojne ukrepe.

This volume was developed within the framework of the teaching course of Urban Sociology in which seminar activities had been planned to respond to a significant teaching demand: to show students the polyhedral nature of studies and research located within the discipline. At the same time, it was intended to highlight the common heuristic option, going beyond the first impression of a magmatic accumulation of research strands. By involving young researchers, the seminar activity thus was designed not to focus on a specific research topic to be explored in depth during the various scheduled classes but to draw attention to the explanatory value of the territorial dimension in understanding a multiplicity of social phenomena, even where this was not immediately evident and often not adequately recognized. The researches outlined in the volume have the merit of focusing on spatial and territorial aspects of the different social forms studied, contributing to the spatialization of sociological theory. In this reading, the territory emerges not just as a mere background and container for a set of social processes but a dimension socially structured by the forces in play and, at the same time, structuring them.

Verständnisprozesse sind zentraler Teil des Lernens und der Bildung. Beim Erlernen von Quantenphysik sind diese Prozesse jedoch oft durch klassische Vorstellungen blockiert. Zur genaueren Erörterung dieser Problematik wird eine Studie vorgestellt, die klassische und quantenphysikalische mentale Modelle von Lernenden erhebt und zu dem allgemeinen Modellverständnis in Beziehung setzt. Die Datenerhebung erfolgte per Onlinefragebogen und deckt eine breite Probandengruppe ab, zu der neben Lernenden verschiedener Schul- und Hochschulformen auch Lehrerinnen und Lehrer sowie viele andere Berufsgruppen gehören. Die empirischen Daten weisen darauf hin, dass die jeweilige Gestalt und Funktionalität der mentalen Modelle unabhängig voneinander in Bezug auf ihre Realitätstreue interpretiert werden. Aus dieser Beschreibung werden vier Verständnistypen mentaler Modelle abgeleitet und in die derzeitige naturwissenschaftsdidaktische Erkenntnislage eingeordnet.

The complex hydrogeological conditions in deep mining areas, coupled with large-scale and high-intensity mining activities, have triggered a series of mine water disasters and significant resource waste issues. The prevention of mine water disasters is crucial for the safe operation of mines. Studying the occurrence mechanism of water disasters, advanced detection, and disaster prevention can provide a theoretical basis and effective solutions for mine water treatment. By studying fundamental mechanics theories of water-bearing coal rocks, mechanisms of surrounding rock water disasters, and advanced technologies for early warning and prevention of mine water disasters, accurate prediction and rapid response to mine water hazards can be achieved. This can help to minimize the losses caused by mine water disasters.

L’ouvrage présente la synthèse de deux années de travaux menés par les membres du VECT-Mare Nostrum (“Voyages, Échanges, Confrontations, Transformations”), groupe de recherche pluridisciplinaire de l’Université de Perpignan-Via Domitia. Reliant les domaines de l’imaginaire, de la littérature et de l’épistémologie, les treize études réunies ici confrontent les réflexions de spécialistes de divers domaines (lettres classiques, lettres modernes, études médiévales, philosophie, études anglo-américaines, études irlandaises) sur le thème de la voie et de ses aléas, sous la triple forme de l’avoiement (la mise en route), de dévoiement (le fait de changer de voie, de s’écarter de l’itinéraire) et du fourvoiement (le fait de quitter toute voie). L’ouvrage s’ouvre sur une prise de repères qui place les usages de l’image de la voie dans une perspective épistémologique et souligne le biais « spatialisant » des habitudes de pensée dominantes, de tradition aristotélicienne. Elle présente trois types de conceptions de la voie, respectivement attachées aux traditions aristotélo-thomiste (la voie selon sa fin), épicurienne (la voie selon son origine) et à la pensée chinoise pré-bouddhiste, dans laquelle la voie ne se définit ni selon un début ni selon une fin mais ne se comprend qu’en fonction du trajet lui-même. Ainsi, de manière largement diachronique, l’analyse de diverses conceptions et modalités de la voie et du voyage opère une mise en perspective philosophique, historique et littéraire nouvelle et donne à percevoir des dimensions subtiles du triptyque de l’avoiement, du dévoiement et du fourvoiement depuis l’antiquité. Épicure et Lucrèce posaient la déclinaison comme source de toute création : dans l’évolution de son imaginaire et par le déplacement des valeurs de l’avoiement, du dévoiement et du fourvoiement, la littérature occidentale a su donner toute sa place à ce principe vital.

À la fin du Moyen Âge, Valence est devenue un des premiers ports de la Méditerranée. Ce livre retrace les étapes de cette ascension du début du xve siècle, jusqu’à la crise finale de la société médiévale Valencienne. Les navires, les équipages, le monde interlope du port sont minutieusement reconstitués, à côté des parties plus techniques concernant l’organisation et les modalités du trafic maritime. Ce milieu des gens de mer est replacé dans le contexte plus large d’une société médiévale. Les activités maritimes ne sont que l’aboutissement d’une production terrestre, réalisée à Valence même et outre-mer, en Italie et au Maghreb. Le monde paysan, la société fragmentée des artisans, les milieux des négociants et des spéculateurs, le clergé et les nobles sont ressuscités dans la troisième partie, grâce à un dépouillement approfondi des archives d’État et des collections notariales de Valence, de Madrid, de Lisbonne et de Rome. On assiste ici à l’évolution des mentalités et des idéologies des divers états de la société, au fur et à mesure que les conditions de la vie matérielle se modifient. Le jeu des interactions devient encore plus complexe du fait de l’existence de minorités importantes. Les musulmans constituent le lien avec le passé arabe, les juifs et les « corners » sont partout présents, alors que les Allemands, les Italiens complètent ce tableau cosmopolite, auquel ne manquent pas les Français, les Bretons, les Flamands, les Anglais, ni les Grecs et les autres Levantins. Portrait d’une cité avec ses réussites et ses échecs, ce livre est aussi l’étude du fonctionnement d’une société médiévale dans un milieu marchand.

Mesmo em uma obra de teor acadêmico como esta, não há como o leitor deixar de ser tocado pelas vivências, pelas experiências, pelos enunciados escritos e pelos ditos por Eduardo, ao apresentar a versão final de sua trágica narrativa, contando o que vivera com o assassinato dos pais. Assume, mesmo diante da tragédia, “um ar alegre, entusiasmado e contente”, como registra a pesquisadora, que comenta a sua ilustração em elaboração: “No primeiro momento, entregou-me apenas o que está representado no alto da imagem apresentada aqui: a faca, o homem com a arma na mão, o lápis e os escritos”, mas na última versão, sua ilustração recebe acréscimos: “a lua minguante negra ao lado de um sol triste e assustado como testemunhas das cenas fatídicas, um lápis colorido com o coração a pulsar na ponta, destacando-o, sobrepondo-o acima do cenário trágico.” Em rápidas palavras, explica para a pesquisadora quais os sentidos dos desenhos acrescentados: “A lua ficou triste ao ver os disparos e o sol assustou-se com o sangue. O lápis representa sua entrada na escola, uma mudança em sua vida. Nela recebe muito carinho e brinca com os amigos, por isso ele o colocara acima do cenário trágico.” Em todos os contos criados pelas crianças a vida reverbera assim, em movimento pendular: ora severa, ora generosa. Mais não conto para não ocupar o papel enxerido de um spoiler.

This industry is spread out in countries of four continents - Asia, Africa, America, and Europe - which operate mines and production plants and produce fertilizers. Phosacid is one of the most widely known acids. The global phosacid market and its many phosphate derivatives are expanding worldwide; this trend is expected to continue in the next years, thus producing innovative products.

In Native Americans and the Christian Right, Andrea Smith advances social movement theory beyond simplistic understandings of social-justice activism as either right-wing or left-wing and urges a more open-minded approach to the role of religion in social movements. In examining the interplay of biblical scripture, gender, and nationalism in Christian Right and Native American activism, Smith rethinks the nature of political strategy and alliance-building for progressive purposes, highlighting the potential of unlikely alliances, termed “cowboys and Indians coalitions” by one of her Native activist interviewees. She also complicates ideas about identity, resistance, accommodation, and acquiescence in relation to social-justice activism. Smith draws on archival research, interviews, and her own participation in Native struggles and Christian Right conferences and events.

Amid the historical decimation of species around the globe, a new way into the language of loss An endling is the last known individual of a species; when that individual dies, the species becomes extinct. These “last individuals” are poignant characters in the stories that humans tell themselves about today’s Anthropocene. In this evocative work, Lydia Pyne explores how discussion about endlings—how we tell their histories—draws on deep traditions of storytelling across a variety of narrative types that go well beyond the science of these species’ biology or their evolutionary history.Endlings provides a useful and thoughtful discussion of species concepts: how species start and how (and why) they end, what it means to be a “charismatic” species, the effects of rewilding, and what makes species extinction different in this era. From Benjamin the thylacine to Celia the ibex to Lonesome George the Galápagos tortoise, endlings, Pyne shows, have the power to shape how we think about grief, mourning, and loss amid the world’s sixth mass extinction.

Informelle Bewegungsaktivitäten im öffentlichen Raum gewinnen zunehmend an Bedeutung. Orte wie Parks, urbane Freiflächen oder Naturgebiete ermöglichen vielfältige Formen von Bewegung, sozialer Interaktion oder alltäglicher Mobilität, und prägen die Bewegungsbiografien vieler Menschen. Für eine gleichberechtigte Teilhabe ist es notwendig, diese Räume offen zu gestalten und unterschiedliche Bedürfnisse stärker zu berücksichtigen. Die Forschung hierzu ist vielfältig und profitiert von interdisziplinären Perspektiven auf Raum, Bewegung und gesellschaftliche Teilhabe. Die 17. Jahrestagung der dvs-Kommission Sport und Raum, welche vom 12. bis 13. März 2026 am Department für Sportwissenschaft und Sport der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg stattfand, verfolgte das Ziel, diese Perspektiven zusammenzuführen und aktuelle wissenschaftliche Ansätze zu informellen Bewegungssettings zu diskutieren. Der vorliegende Abstractband bündelt die Beiträge der Tagung und gibt Einblicke in die thematische Breite der sportwissenschaftlichen Sicht auf öffentliche Bewegungsräume.

Carbon nanotubes are one of the most intriguing new materials with extraordinary properties being discovered in the last decade. The unique structure of carbon nanotubes provides nanotubes with extraordinary mechanical and electrical properties. The outstanding properties that these materials possess have opened new interesting researches areas in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Although nanotubes are very promising in a wide variety of fields, application of individual nanotubes for large scale production has been limited. The main roadblocks, which hinder its use, are limited understanding of its synthesis and electrical properties which lead to difficulty in structure control, existence of impurities, and poor processability. This book makes an attempt to provide indepth study and analysis of various synthesis methods, processing techniques and characterization of carbon nanotubes that will lead to the increased applications of carbon nanotubes.

The monograph is the first comprehensive study on the Polish market combining the analysis of theoretical and practical aspects of international investment flows against the background of the development of the international currency system. The period in which it was completed probably marks the beginning of the emergence of a new global financial architecture. Particular attention was devoted to the discussion on the directions of capital flows in the world economy in relation to the so-called Lucas paradox, most often defined in the context of the inadequacy of the neoclassical model to explain the direction of investment capital flow on a global scale._x000D_ The aim of the monograph is to introduce the reader to the various theories, views, facts and data on international investment flows over the past two centuries. In a globalized economy, cross-border flows of financial resources constitute a significant part of the ongoing economic processes and are an important determinant of the volatility of macroeconomic parameters. This monograph, which is intended to provide knowledge and competences for the analysis and interpretation of international financial flows, is addressed to a wide audience: students, scientists, business representatives and all those interested in the subject.
