This open access book from the world’s first 6G Flagship research program at the University of Oulu, Finland, provides a multi-disciplinary and insightful overview of the subject, with contributions from experts in the field. Today’s fourth generation of mobile connectivity services (4G) are available everywhere, and adoption of fifth generation (5G) networks is well underway. Compared to 4G, 5G has already brought about new business opportunities and enabled seamless virtual and augmented reality services, but also raised serious concerns on data privacy and security and the use of artificial intelligence. The sixth generation (6G) networks are already in R&D phase aiming at deployment in 2030. We need to understand today what 5G evolution and 6G may bring for the future of service delivery and how they will influence us. The contributions answer what 5G, its evolution, and 6G will be about; what kind of impacts 5G and 6G will have on future digital services, businesses, and society; how we could benefit from 5G and 6G innovations; and how 5G and 6G should be regulated in the future. Future 5G evolution and 6G are not only about moving toward faster, better, and more secure networks providing the basis for innovative digital services, they are also going to bring about a huge digital disruption that will affect all levels of society. This book will be of great interest to academics and students of management, telecommunications and digital innovation, as well practitioners and policymakers looking to the future of business.

This collection of essays and research articles has been designed, by its breadth of expertise and discipline, to pay suitable homage to the seminal influence and contribution made by the late Alistair Hennessy towards the development of Cuban studies. For that reason, it includes a judicious mixture of the old and the new, including several of the leading and internationally well-established experts on Cuban history, politics and culture, but also some up-and-coming researchers in the field; that mixture and the combination of topics (some addressing the past directly, others assessing the present within a historical context) reflects Hennessy’s own cross-disciplinary and open-minded approach to the study of the history of Cuba.

Healthcare workers face increasingly dangerous work environments, with patient aggression emerging as a critical threat particularly in emergency departments. This title reveals the alarming frequency of verbal, physical, and mental aggression toward medical staff, often surrounded by a conspiracy of silence despite its significant impact on healthcare delivery. Through research including surveys of 246 medical professionals, 39 interviews, and 13 case studies, the authors expose the prevalence of this phenomenon and its devastating consequences for workers, organizations, and ultimately patient care. Creating a Sustainable Healthcare Workplace: Management Challenges Related to Aggressive Patient Behaviour identifies, classifies, and addresses workplace threats affecting medical staff safety, with special emphasis on psychosocial hazards related to aggressive patient behaviour. The book presents a three-tiered intervention framework operating at systemic, organizational, and individual levels and offers practical recommendations to prevent incidents, support employees during aggressive encounters, and mitigate aftermath effects. This approach will allow the reader to understand and create a sustainable workplace where healthcare professionals can perform their duties without fear, ultimately improving care quality for all patients. This essential resource is written for health and safety professionals, healthcare administrators, hospital managers, medical staff supervisors, human resource professionals, and policymakers responsible for healthcare worker safety. Medical professionals working in high-risk environments, particularly emergency departments, will find valuable insights and practical strategies to address patient aggression.

This book is about the relations between literature, society and politics in the Arab world. It is an attempt to come to terms with the changing conceptualizations of the political in Arabic literature (and to a certain extent theater and the visual arts) in recent modern history. It examines historical and contemporary conceptions of literary commitment (iltizām) and how notions of ‘writing with a cause’ have been shaped, contested, re-actualized since the 1940s until today. Starting with the present day, it looks at literary practices during the ‘Arab Spring,’ then tracks back to the beginnings of literary politicization during the 1940s and 1950s, subsequently crosses the historical caesura of the late 1960s to consider competing re-conceptualizations of literary engagement in the 1970s and 1980s, before finally returning to the 1990s through to 2011. The chapters reexamine critically both current and historical notions of the political in modern Arabic literature as well as the legacy of iltizām as a term and an agenda. They discuss literary commitment not solely as a (completed) period in Arabic literary history but also as a vivid, changing and continuing idea that questions the role of literature and the author in and for a society. Even though a number of seminal research volumes have been published on the conceptual history of Arab literary engagement in English language, there remain no book-length studies on the ongoing relationship between the literary and the political from the 1940s until today. Therefore, what makes this volume unique and outstanding is, firstly, its point of departure in approaching the question of the ‘new political’ in Arabic literature through an interrogation of iltizām’s longevity as both a historically adaptable and adaptive literary concept—something which the ‘Arab Spring’ has forcefully brought back to our minds. Secondly, this volume brings together the attempts, propositions, and research results of both established and upcoming scholars in the field of modern Arab literary and cultural history, all of whom have initiated and undertaken exceptional contributions regarding the issue. As such, this book fills a gap in the field of Arabic Literary Studies as it explicitly reconsiders the legacy of Arab literary commitment and its manifold and heterogeneous conceptions in the light of recent and present day developments.

Sexual violence can happen in person or through technology, like when someone shares or posts private images online without the victim's consent. There is still disagreement over the definition and description of online sexual harassment despite the large number of studies conducted on this topic. The research has really long ignored the interactions between peers and instead concentrated on the ways that adolescents are victimized by adults, strangers, or romantic partners. With a definition of the construct from a theoretical and measurement perspective as well as a description of its features, this work seeks to advance understanding of the phenomena of online sexual harassment among peers. Additionally, the prevalence of the phenomena of online sexual harassment among peers in the Italian setting was examined in comparison to the more extensively researched problem of cybervictimization. The two behaviors, although very similar, seem to be associated with different risk factors.

The book The Indigenous Movement in Brazil: From Tutelage to Protagonism (1974–1988), organized by researchers in the field of Indigenous studies Dr. Clovis Antonio Brighenti, professor of History at UNILA, and Egon Dionisio Heck, Master in Political Science from Unicamp and member of Cimi, is a collection of 13 articles divided into three parts. It also includes a preface written by anthropologist João Pacheco de Oliveira, full professor at the National Museum (UFRJ). The work fills an important temporal gap in Brazilian indigenist historiography, spanning from the early 1970s until the enactment of the Federal Constitution of 1988. This was a crucial period in Indigenous history in Brazil, when Indigenous peoples were being violently decimated both physically—by the “modernization” projects of the military governments—and culturally, through the proposed legislation of Indigenous integration into the national community. This book examines how Indigenous peoples in Brazil overcame the notions of state tutelage and integration, paving the way for the recognition of their social organization, languages, customs, beliefs, and traditions. The first part is dedicated to the Indigenous movement, the assemblies, and the organizations that emerged, and it includes an article written by Nailton of the Pataxó People of Bahia, a protagonist in this process. The second part focuses on specific contexts of Indigenous actions and mobilizations, especially in the struggle for land rights. The third part is dedicated to analyzing state policies and the mobilizations against integration, as well as the efforts toward changing the legal framework in the 1988 Federal Constitution. This process not only transformed the relationship between Indigenous peoples and the Brazilian state but also brought about profound changes in social struggles and in Brazil’s self-perception as a multicultural country—potentially advancing, in the future, toward interculturality.
