The topic of the book is the incremental growth of linguistic knowledge from lexical to structural-cum-textual during the so-called later language development. Language mastery does not presuppose any acquaintance with prescriptive grammar but, instead, concerns the core of language which the so-called consensus principle applies to: the most frequent words and structures are mastered with certainty by everybody, but uncertainty increases as less frequent and more variable phenomena are taken into consideration. It is the goal of the study to make explicit the knowledge that is common to school children of different age groups, and to show how it develops both in its core and in its fringe areas. The mastery of less common aspects exhibits considerable statistical variation. The research embodies methodological pluralism insofar as it has been carried out by means both of the corpus method and the experimental method. Here experimental subsumes writing tasks, paper-and-pencil tests, and behavior under experimental conditions. The amount of participants native in Finnish varies from 300–2000. The book has a bipartite structure: mastery of meanings (Part I), and mastery of forms (Part II).

This work is focused on the prediction of elastic behavior of short-fiber reinforced composites by mean-field homogenization methods, which account for experimentally determined and artificially constructed microstructure data in discrete and averaged form. The predictions are compared with experimental measurements and a full-field voxel-based approach. It is investigated, whether the second-order orientation tensor delivers a sufficient microstructure description for such predictions.

The origins of the Cultural Revolution are still shrouded in uncertainty. Crucial questions either remain unanswered or have been given answers which derive from conflicting interpretations. To what period can the direct origins of the Cultural Revolution be traced? What issues, if any, divided the leadership, and how deep were these divisions? What was the state of power relations and what was Mao’s position? Why did developments in the period preceding the Cultural Revolution reach a climax in such a convulsion? Between Two Plenums examines these questions as they apply to the years 1959–1962. At base, the perspective of pre-Cultural Revolution politics adopted therein is that of “conflict” rather than “consensus.” From this vantage point, the Eighth and Tenth Plenums loom in retrospect as important watersheds in the development of the intraleadership conflict which culminated in the great upheaval.

This study compared the Applied Behavior Analysis benefit provided by TRICARE as an early intervention for autism spectrum disorder with similar benefits in Medicaid and commercial health insurance plans. The study focused on comparing a proposed TRICARE reimbursement rate decrease from $125 per hour to $68 per hour for such services performed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst to reimbursement rates in other plans.

In 1967 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people successfully campaigned for a referendum for constitutional change, releasing them from policies restricting movement outside of their home states and territories of residence. This chapter interrogates the contested space for representation of Aboriginal performance in the years following the referendum. New companies for Aboriginal music and dance performance flourished after 1967 and began to tour outside Australia, including to Japan, Fiji, and the USA. Non-Indigenous performers such as Beth Dean and Victor Carell, previously representing Aboriginal culture in their shows, quickly had to revise their approaches and soon began co-ordinating international music and dance performances by the owners of the traditions, instead of performing them. New companies included the Aboriginal Theatre Foundation (formed in 1969) and the South Pacific Festival of Arts (formed in 1972, building on the 1970 Ballet of the South Pacific). Some of the key musicians/dancers in these new performances, David Gulpilil, David Blanasi, and Djoli Laiwanga, went on to prominent careers as recording artists, touring musicians, and, in Gulpilil’s case, in film. The chapter considers how these new contexts for cultural exchange were internationalized while resisting globalization, emphasizing localized performances by the owners of the songs and dances themselves.

This textbook, endorsed by the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), provides adult and paediatric nurses with a full and informative guide covering all aspects of transplant nursing, from basic principles to advanced concepts. It takes the reader on a journey through the history of transplant nursing, including essential and progressive elements to help nurses improve their knowledge and benefit the patient experience, as well as a comprehensive introduction to research and auditing methods. This new volume specifically intended for nurses, complements the ESH-EBMT reference title, a popular educational resource originally developed in 2003 for physicians to accompany an annual training course also serving as an educational tool in its own right. This title is designed to develop the knowledge of nurses in transplantation. It is the first book of its kind specifically targeted at nurses in this specialist field and acknowledges the valuable contribution that nursing makes in this area. This volume presents information that is essential for the education of nurses new to transplantation, while also offering a valuable resource for more experienced nurses who wish to update their knowledge.

The Porgera gold mine in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea is technically one of the most sophisticated and successful mines of recent times. In its second year of operations (1992) it was the third largest gold producing mine in the world. Socially, though, the mine has brought a range of massive changes for the local Ipili community-both positive and negative. Dilemmas of Development is a record of a series of studies of the social and economic effects of the Porgerta mine, commissioned by the Porgera Joint Vemture (PJV).
