The Documenta Q volumes give a presentation and evaluation of the history of research on each section of the Sayings Gospel Q. This volume treats the segment Q 11:9-13 together with Luke 11:5-8 which follow on the Lord's Prayer and constitute the first commentary on this central text. All differences between Matthew and Luke in this section are discussed and suggestions for the reconstruction of the text of Q made, among others such important one's as „egg/scorpion“ against „bread/stone“ (Q 11:11-12) or „Holy Spirit“ against „good things“ (Q 11:13).

This paper looks at Harry Braverman’s analysis of the evolution of work in capitalist society. In the mid-1970s, the author investigated the development of labour in the capitalist social and production context, drawing on Marx’s views of labour and society. The introduction briefly introduces the author, followed by his views of work, i.e. the idea of the destruction of qualifications and the consequent degradation of work, the emergence of new professions closely rooted in the social context, and the reflection on the approach used to study the world of work.

This paper presents the preliminary results of a research project aimed at the analysis of the early medieval settlement pattern in the Sierra de Ávila, a territory located in the central part of the Iberian Peninsula characterized by a long-term strong internal cohesion. Through four case studies -i.e., La Coba (San Juan del Olmo), El Palomar (Chamartín de la Sierra), Las Henrenes (Cillán) y San Simones (Sanchicorto, La Torre)- we will Delve into the process of emergence of a micropolitical territoriality during the early medieval ages. The archaeological interventions have documented different rural settlements dated between the 7th and the 10th centuries, which present a internal polyfocal organization based on the configuration of various domestic units, and also a complex social and economic complexity. These settlements are part of a process of expansion of the settlement pattern from the 7th century onwards, constituting the material basis upon which a micropolitical space was built.

This book is the product of a collaboration between the data protection offices of the ICRC and UNHCR, alongside the Global Privacy Assembly, to reflect on a decade of progress in data protection in humanitarian contexts. Through practitioner perspectives, empirical research, and conceptual reflections, it examines how data protection underpins trust, accountability, and respect for affected populations, serving as a crucial enabler for ethical and effective humanitarian action in the digital age. The volume explores critical topics including digital transformation, operational complexities such as those linked to data breaches and data sharing, regulatory developments and international cooperation, legal frameworks and capacity-building. At the same time, it looks ahead, addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by emerging technologies and considering how the humanitarian sector may anticipate and prepare for them. This book is intended for policymakers, practitioners, authorities, academics, and other experts working in data protection, international organisations, and humanitarian action and adjacent fields. It offers a compass to help navigate complex operational and legal challenges in an increasingly digital and data-driven landscape. By positioning data protection as a foundational element of humanitarian action, the book provides timely, forward-looking insights into the sector’s preparedness for technological and regulatory change, with the aim of helping those most in need. The historical vicissitudes of the stately Trentino and Tyrolean archives are extremely complex. Archives have long been preserved in castles and aristocratic homes (and in some cases still are); until the end of the 19th century they underwent manipulations, transfers, splits linked to the functioning of the aristocratic society of the Habsburg empire, with the transfer of funds also to distant territories (Czech Republic, Bavaria, etc.). Only recently have the provincial archives of Bolzano and Trento become the most significant place for preserving the memory of the Trentino aristocracy.

This paper analyses Velimir Khlebnikov’s early Pan-Slavic and anti-German ideological positions against the background of the Balkan crisis (1908, 1912) and the development of the Neo-Slavophile movement. Furthermore, we illustrate how Khlebnikov’s encounter with Janko Lavrin influenced his linguististic conceptions, which in 1913 led to the publication of a series of articles in the newspaper “Slavyanin”. Finally, we argue that some of these articles already showed a significant shift from his Neo-Slavophile ideas to a new conception, which turns towards the Eurasian continent as the arena for his utopian visions.

Cent trois ans !

This book is for you who are curious about how plants can be identified using DNA: the most powerful source of information to link a plant to a name. This may sound trivial, but it is not. But don’t despair in advance: it is doable, mostly fun, and always rewarding. You just need to learn how. Here, you will not only learn how various types of materials containing plant fragments can be identified to species in the lab and how to execute sophisticated computer analyses, but also gain a deeper understanding of the complexities and challenges faced by taxonomy in general, and plant identification in particular, including the lack of comprehensive reference databases. Enforcing strict species concepts onto nature’s inherent fluidity doesn’t always work, and despite all recent advances in this field it still happens that some plant samples cannot be confidently named. Yet, if this ever happens to you, this initially frustrating insight can also be scientifically revealing, and help you design further experiments.

Countries around the world are reforming their social security and pension systems. International studies often focus on social security reforms in Europe and North America, and may include Latin America. Reforms, however, are also occurring in Asia and Africa, and include reforms of voluntary and employer-provided pensions as well as social security programs. This book discusses both social security and employer-provided pension reforms, as well as reforms in most regions of the world.

What do scholars of civil law know too little about? Like any mature discipline, civil law scholarship has developed methods, perspectives, and routines—but also blind spots, i.e., areas in which regulatory strategies or scholarly approaches are inadequate, contradictory, or completely absent. This volume explores these blind spots. From among the proposals submitted by young researchers in all German-speaking countries, 15 topics were selected in a blind peer review process, presented at the 35th GJZ Annual Conference in the Rheingau region, and illuminated thoroughly in this volume. The contributions paint a colorful picture of the perspectives of civil law research in the 125th year of the German Civil Code (BGB). How the increasing reliance on metrics to evaluate scholarly publications has produced new forms of academic fraud and misconduct. The traditional academic imperative to “publish or perish” is increasingly coupled with the newer necessity of “impact or perish”—the requirement that a publication have “impact,” as measured by a variety of metrics, including citations, views, and downloads. Gaming the Metrics examines how the increasing reliance on metrics to evaluate scholarly publications has produced radically new forms of academic fraud and misconduct. The contributors show that the metrics-based “audit culture” has changed the ecology of research, fostering the gaming and manipulation of quantitative indicators, which lead to the invention of such novel forms of misconduct as citation rings and variously rigged peer reviews. The chapters, written by both scholars and those in the trenches of academic publication, provide a map of academic fraud and misconduct today. They consider such topics as the shortcomings of metrics, the gaming of impact factors, the emergence of so-called predatory journals, the “salami slicing” of scientific findings, the rigging of global university rankings, and the creation of new watchdogs and forensic practices.
