In modern economies, attention is given to the importance of entrepreneurship. Nowadays, start-up ventures are a form of entrepreneurship. Start-ups are distinguished from traditional new businesses by a number of characteristics, in particular, the originality of their activities, the higher risk of failure, as well as their ability to grow rapidly and earn a significant return on investment. They have a significant yet complex impact on both economic and social life. The cognitive purpose of the study is to systematize existing knowledge in the area of start-up ventures. To this end, a systematic review of the literature on start-up topics was carried out. The presentation of the results of the literature analysis conducted by the desk research method is intended to prepare theoretically for the second stage of empirical research.

Compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies has become increasingly critical to business success. This book presents an approach for efficiently checking the compliance of business processes based on event data recorded in a standardized event log format. In addition to a reference implementation of the approach an extension for a business process management tool as well as a web-based dashboard are developed.

En 1999, dans le droit-fil des accords de Nouméa et de Bercy (1998), et de ceux de Matignon-Oudinot (1988), les ministres chargés de la Recherche et des Outre-mer confient à l’IRD une mission d’évaluation des conditions de création en Nouvelle-Calédonie d’un pôle de recherches relatives à l’exploration et à l’exploitation du nickel ainsi qu’aux impacts environnementaux et sociétaux de ces activités minières. À la suite de cette étude de faisabilité, les ministres valident le rapport et demandent à nouveau à l’IRD une étude exhaustive afin de créer ce pôle. Une équipe de recherche pluridisciplinaire en géosciences est parallèlement affectée en Nouvelle-Calédonie. L’idée est alors, tout en travaillant sur les différents rapports (sciences, statut et budget) avec l’ensemble des acteurs publics et privés, d’élaborer ce futur pôle de recherche par induction sur la base de projets de recherche coconstruits avec les acteurs impliqués locaux ou extérieurs. Les recherches développées fonderont de nombreux résultats en géophysique, géomorphologie, en géochimie et hydrologie portant sur la connaissance fine des manteaux d’altération nickélifères et de leurs fonctionnements, en minéralogie des minerais nickélifères, en biologie des plantes dans le cadre de la restauration des sols impactés par l’exploitation, et en santé suite aux découvertes sur l’amiante entrant dans la composition des roches ultrabasiques porteuses de nicke Cet effet « catalyse » de la recherche menée a permis une structuration rapide de consortia gagnants de nombreux appels d’offres, un climat de confiance nécessaire entre les partenaires publics et privés basé sur les compétences réelles de chacun, un développement exponentiel des compétences localement et de l’attractivité de la Nouvelle-Calédonie dans ce domaine de recherche. La recherche a ainsi produit des connaissances clés pour l’activité minière, la revégétalisation des sols et la connaissance des impacts dans le lagon.

The interrelationship between heteronormativity, homonormativity and hegemonic masculinity has widereaching ramifications for the representation of important moments and agents in LGBTQIAN+ history. In this study, the author examines how the films Howl, Stonewall and Milk enact the emancipation of their protagonists, while simultaneously reproducing their oppression and aestheticising their discrimination, thus making it consumable. This contradiction is emblematic of new forms of exclusion that function more subtly than blatant homophobia, outright sexism or overt racism, while at the same time rejecting a more complex repre-sentation of social experiences but instead solidifying static, definable identities.

La Bretagne : une terre ouverte sur le monde. Terre de marins et terre de pionniers. Terre aussi de missionnaires, ce qu'on oublie trop souvent. De 1800 à 1990, pas moins de 12 000 prêtres, religieux, religieuses sont partis outre-mer pour vivre leur engagement. Au terme d'une longue enquête marquée du sceau de la rigueur historique (ce qui n'exclut pas la sympathie intérieure), Joseph Michel, qui fut l'un de ces missionnaires, fait revivre dans son ouvrage cette population d'aventuriers de la foi, partis vers d'autres rives, souvent sans espoir de retour. Il analyse finement les assises populaires de ce vaste mouvement et décrit en détail le tissu des ordres, instituts et congrégations qui l'ont ordonné. Missionnaires bretons d'outre-mer apporte ainsi un éclairage nouveau tant à l'histoire sociale de la Bretagne des deux derniers siècles qu'à celle du rayonnement international de son patrimoine culturel.

“The Post-Secular City” is the first attempt to systematically map and assess the recent debate about secularization. “The Post-Secular City” examines the alleged shift from a “secular” to a “post-secular” dispensation from the perspective of the ongoing de-construction of the secularization “theorem” (as Hans Blumenberg called it). Accordingly, the new secularization debate is described as being polarized between the “de-constructors” and the “maintainers” of the standard thesis of secularization. This is the assumption underlying an ambitious effort to map the field, which consists of a long introduction where “secularization” is analyzed as a deeply problematic concept-of-process and of eight chapters in which several protagonists of the recent debate are discussed as crucial junctions of a multidisciplinary conversation.

The volume concludes a multi-year study conceived and carried out by the Museo del Tessuto of Prato, which involved public bodies and cultural institutions in the city motivated by the desire to see one of the identifying products of the Prato textile district returned to contemporary life: its cloth. The idea to experimentally reconstruct the cloth arose from the study of some documents of the Datini Fund, a unique archival complex in the world for historical and economic studies on the Middle Ages. The collective and interdisciplinary project is documented in a volume created in collaboration with the International Institute of Economic History “F. Datini”. The historical contributions on the manufacturing and commercial management of the Datini cloth are followed by a second part that documents the study and experimentation phases of its reconstruction.

Wie sind quantifizierende Ordnungen zeitgenössischer Kunst möglich, wenn Grundsemantiken autonomer Kunst in einem Widerspruch zu quantifizierenden Messungen und Vergleichen stehen? Obwohl sich Kunst, abgesehen von Marktanalysen, der vermeintlich umfassenden Quantifizierung der Gesellschaft zu entziehen scheint, sind zahlenbasierte Verfahren entstanden, die gerade kunstspezifische Kriterien ernst nehmen wollen. Die vorliegende Studie fragt nach der inneren Logik von solchen Rankings und institutionellen Evaluationen und ihrer Rolle für Stabilität und Wandel der Kunst. Damit werden Fälle behandelt, die aus der Kunstwelt heraus als symbolischer Grenzübertritt kritisiert werden. Hinter diese Auseinandersetzungen um adäquate oder absurde Beobachtungsweisen tritt der Autor aber zurück, um für eine systematische Annäherung an plurale Vorstellungen über Kunst in der Kunst zu argumentieren. Einerseits rekonstruiert er so empirisch an einer Künstler/innenrangliste und an Erfolgsmessungen in Kunstmuseen das paradigmatische Wissen und die konkreten Beobachtungsarchitekturen als konsistente Ordnungsweisen. Andererseits entwickelt er kunstsoziologische Theorien (Becker, Bourdieu, Luhmann) weiter durch die bewertungs- und vergleichssoziologische Einsicht, nach der jede kommunizierte Ordnung eine Welt nicht einfach darstellt, sondern eine eigene Realität selektiv herstellt und potenziell in Gesellschaft zurückwirkt. Auch wenn somit jeder Ordnungsversuch unabhängig von Zahlengebrauch analytisch gleich absurd ist, kommt den Innensichten der Kunst eine zentrale Rolle in der sozialen Selbstorganisation der Künste zu. Ausgehend von umstrittenen Ordnungsversuchen zeigt die Studie, wie Kunst sich heute vermehrt selbst als soziales Phänomen beobachtet, um Navigation durch das vermeintliche Chaos zeitgenössischer Kunst zu ermöglichen.

This open access book details the relationship between the artist and their created works, using tools such as information technology, computer environments, and interactive devices, for a range of information sources and application domains. This has produced new kinds of created works which can be viewed, explored, and interacted with, either as an installation or via a virtual environment such as the Internet. These processes generate new dimensions of understanding and experience for both the artist and the public’s relationships with the works that are produced. This has raised a variety of interdisciplinary opportunities and issues, and these are examined. The symbiotic relationship between artistic works and the cultural context in which they are produced is reviewed. Technology can provide continuity by making traditional methods and techniques more efficient and effective. It can also provide discontinuity by opening up new perspectives and paradigms. This can generate new ideas, and produce a greater understanding of artistic processes and how they are implemented in practice. Tools have been used from the earliest times to create and modify artistic works. For example, naturally occurring pigments have been used for cave paintings. What has been created provides insight into the cultural context and social environment at the time of creation. There is an interplay between the goal of the creator, the selection and use of appropriate tools, and the materials and representations chosen. Technology, Design and the Arts - Opportunities and Challenges is relevant for artists and technologists and those engaged in interdisciplinary research and development at the boundaries between these disciplines.

El objeto de este libro ha sido estudiar la primera biblioteca que tuvo la Universidad de Mallorca, formada con las que establecieron los Jesuitas en los colegios de Montesión y San Martín de Palma y San Ignacio de Pollença. Fue una biblioteca universitaria abierta a todo estudioso que la quiso consultar, por tanto estamos en los orígenes de la lectura pública en Mallorca. El tema central es la biblioteca, sobre la que giran los acontecimientos históricos, en un contexto inmediato, traslado de libros, organización, inventario, acondicionamiento de espacios, actuación de los miembros del claustro universitario, y aquellos que van ocurriendo en el ámbito que la envuelve, la ciudad de Palma, enmarcados en las ideas de la Ilustración. La acotación cronológica se sustenta en dos años importantes para la vida universitaria mallorquina: 1767, por la expulsión de los Jesuitas, y 1829, por la real orden de supresión de la Universidad. La investigación se ha fundamentado en fuentes documentales conservadas en archivos históricos de Palma y Madrid. Los resultados obtenidos están organizados sobre un hilo cronológico que nos permite estudiar la evolución de la Universidad, desde un punto de vista institucional, en su etapa final de la mano de su biblioteca---The purpose of this book was to study the first university library of Majorca, which was formed by the union of the libraries that Jesuits had established in the schools of Montesión and San Martín in Palma and San Ignacio in Pollença. It was a university library opened to everybody, therefore we are at the origins of public reading in Majorca. The main subject is the library, its organization, transfer of books, inventory, space conditioning, performance of the members of the faculty and the events that happen in the city of Palma, framed by the Enlightment. The chronological dimension is based on two important years for Majorcan university life: 1767 (expulsion of the Jesuits) and 1829 (royal order of suppression of the university). The research has been based on documentary sources preserved in historical archives of Palma and Madrid. The results obtained are organized on a chronological thread that allows us to study the evolution of the university, from an institutional point of view, in its final stage through the history of the library.

Recorded in classical Chinese texts, this legendary matriarchal domain has attracted not only tourists but the vigilance of the Chinese state. Tenzin Jinba’s research examines the consequences of development of the queendom label for local ethnic, gender, and political identities and for state-society relations.

This short article aims to stimulate a rethinking of the deep cultural sedimentations that do not emerge on the surface of Claudio Magris’ critical and narrative work. In this case we are dealing with books, writers, and locations in Tuscany which, on the basis of an initial exploration of the texts, constitute the underground and unspoken components of Claudio Magris’ humanism.
