Better ways are needed to understand how terrorist groups become more effective and dangerous. Learning is the link between what a group wants to do and its ability to actually do it; therefore, a better understanding of group learning might contribute to the design of better measures for combating terrorism. This study analyzes current understanding of group learning and the factors that influence it and outlines a framework that should be useful in present analytical efforts and for identifying areas requiring further study.

Our dependence on soil, and our curiosity about it, is leading to the investigation of changes within soil processes. Furthermore, the diversity and dynamics of soil are enabling new discoveries and insights, which help us to understand the variations in soil processes. Consequently, this permits us to take the necessary measures for soil protection, thus promoting soil health. This book aims to provide an up-to-date account of the current state of knowledge in recent practices and assessments in soil science. Moreover, it presents a comprehensive evaluation of the effect of residue/waste application on soil properties and, further, on the mechanism of plant adaptation and plant growth. Interesting examples of simulation using various models dealing with carbon sequestration, ecosystem respiration, and soil landscape, etc. are demonstrated. The book also includes chapters on the analysis of areal data and geostatistics using different assessment methods. More recent developments in analytical techniques used to obtain answers to the various physical mechanisms, chemical, and biological processes in soil are also present.

The book "Education of Youth and Adults: Diversity, inclusion and awareness" is situated in the context of a multiplicity of training processes aimed at contemplating, in addition to the quest to overcome absolute illiteracy, the debate on themes aimed at broadening the conception of EJA , which, although publicized, are rarely included in the teaching programs of this segment of basic education, such as cultural identity, differences, racial issues, power relations, gender issues, art and popular culture, among others. others, all of them lacking public policies for their implementation. It is understood as imperative the production and dissemination of knowledge involving EJA in order to consolidate it as an effective field of theoretical-practical reflections aimed at guaranteeing access and permanence of subjects in the school environment located in a true mosaic of cultures, ethnicities , living conditions and social groups, with yearnings for social development, constitute an enormous challenge for public policies. Thus, in the set of texts of the work, the theoretical foundation of several curricular components of this area of knowledge, the documentary analysis aimed at legal support and, in particular, proposals for didactic-pedagogical intervention aimed at the necessary mediation for the constitution of public policies and true citizenship education. Thus, the book is of interest for the initial training of teachers, for teachers who teach in EJA and for professionals in education networks involved with technical-pedagogical guidance and initial or continuing training of educators.

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is already being used successfully in residential, commercial and industrial buildings for different reasons. High in-plane shear strength and stiffness of the CLT itself make CLT members especially suited for bracing elements with in-plane loads. To better use the potential of CLT under static in-plane loading, so called contact joints were developed with increased stiffness and load-carrying capacities using CNC automatic processing machines.

In this ethnographic study of post-paternalist ruination and renovation, Christian Straube explores social change at the intersection of material decay and social disconnection in the former mine township Mpatamatu of Luanshya, one of the oldest mining towns on the Zambian Copperbelt. Touching on topics including industrial history, colonial town planning, social control and materiality, gender relations and neoliberal structural change, After Corporate Paternalism offers unique insights into how people reappropriate former corporate spaces and transform them into personal projects of renovation, fundamentally changing the characteristics of their community.

Throughout the history of the United States, work-based social welfare practices have served to affirm the moral value of work. In the late nineteenth century this representational project came to be mediated by the printed word with the emergence of industrial print technologies, the expansion of literacy, and the rise of professionalization. In Work Requirements Todd Carmody asks how work, even the most debasing or unproductive labor, came to be seen as inherently meaningful during this era. He explores how the print culture of social welfare—produced by public administrators, by economic planners, by social scientists, and in literature and the arts—tasked people on the social and economic margins, specifically racial minorities, incarcerated people, and people with disabilities, with shoring up the fundamental dignity of work as such. He also outlines how disability itself became a tool of social discipline, defined by bureaucratized institutions as the inability to work. By interrogating the representational effort necessary to make work seem inherently meaningful, Carmody ultimately reveals a forgotten history of competing efforts to think social belonging beyond or even without work.

This open access book delves into Japan's humanitarian aid efforts in Myanmar following the military coup of February 2021. As Myanmar faces political upheaval and growing humanitarian challenges, Japan's response has been notable, yet intricate, maneuvering through obstacles created by the Myanmar military's weaponization of aid. Utilizing document analysis, semi-structured interviews, and fieldwork conducted at the Myanmar-Thailand border, this book explores four key channels through which Japan delivers humanitarian assistance: UN organizations, Myanmar-based NGOs, Thailand-based NGOs, and Bangladesh-based NGOs. Each channel is examined in detail, highlighting the strategies employed, obstacles faced, and impact of Japan’s contributions on the ground. This study illuminates the precarious equilibrium between delivering crucial aid and addressing the political circumstances that hinder humanitarian endeavors. It also prompts important discussions about the morality of providing assistance in conflict-ridden areas and the responsibilities of donor nations in upholding their human rights. This book is ideal for academics, decision-makers, and humanitarian professionals, and not only enlightens readers about Japan's distinctive position in Myanmar, but also contributes to wider debates on international aid dynamics in politically fraught environments.

Arndt, H.-S. Chamberlain, J.-G. Fichte, M. Heidegger, J.-G. Herder, E. Krieck, P.-A. Lagarde (Botticher), F.-W. Nietzsche, A. Rosenberg.
