This volume contains chapters that paint the current landscape of the multiword expressions (MWE) representation in lexical resources, in view of their robust identification and computational processing. Both large-size general lexica and smaller MWE-centred ones are included, with special focus on the representation decisions and mechanisms that facilitate their usage in Natural Language Processing tasks. The presentations go beyond the morpho-syntactic description of MWEs, into their semantics. One challenge in representing MWEs in lexical resources is ensuring that the variability along with extra features required by the different types of MWEs can be captured efficiently. In this respect, recommendations for representing MWEs in mono- and multilingual computational lexicons have been proposed; these focus mainly on the syntactic and semantic properties of support verbs and noun compounds and their proper encoding thereof.

Cultural tourism can play an important role in social and territorial cohesion. Focusing on European peripheral regions, this book illuminates the importance of local communities in heritage management for sustainable development. La educación de niños, niñas y jóvenes con discapacidad cognitiva o intelectual debe ser una prioridad para las instituciones educativas del país, por ello, el texto Orientaciones para la atención de estudiantes con discapacidad intelectual/ cognitiva se convierte en una herramienta eficaz para consultar, planear, ejecutar y evaluar las estrategias de formación y orientación de la comunidad educativa. Los directivos, docentes y demás profesionales encontrarán la ayuda necesaria para la atención y entendimiento de esta población. Con el trascurrir de los años de práctica educativa, se visibiliza que el acompañamiento, no solo de los maestros, sino también de la familia, es fundamental para el aprendizaje y desarrollo personal de los niños y los estudiantes con discapacidad; las familias se convierten, entonces, en el pilar fundamental del desarrollo de las capacidades y el fortalecimiento de las competencias, adaptándose de una mejor manera a quienes los rodean. La invitación trasciende para que, a través de este manual, las familias, directivos, docentes y demás profesionales que hacen parte de las instituciones implementen estrategias consignadas aquí como una ruta o camino que permitirá despejar dudas y crear sus propios proyectos basados en los parámetros que el Ministerio de Educación Nacional (MEN) brinda para la atención de los estudiantes con discapacidad.

This reprint comprises chapters describing new diagnostic approaches, risk assessment strategies, challenges encountered in peculiar patients, innovative drug therapies, and invasive procedural options. It starts by pointing out the prognostic value of several biomarkers for diagnosis, risk stratification, and follow-up of patients with heart failure. Another aspect is the significance of genetic mutations in patients with life-threatening arrhythmias. Other points of interest in this reprint concern a more accurate evaluation of left ventricular systolic function that involves non-invasive methods (transthoracic echocardiography and electrocardiography Holter monitoring). Then, this reprint continues by highlighting the important contribution of various cardiovascular complications and comorbidities severely impacting the outcome of patients with heart failure. Another section of this reprint is dedicated to the therapy of chronic heart failure, starting with the importance of non-pharmacological methods and identifying patients with difficulties in their self-management that have resulted in compliance issues. Regarding therapy, special emphasis is given first to optimizing medication and, on the other hand, to employing left ventricular assistance devices, where necessary, or mechanical cardiocirculatory support as a bridge preceding cardiac transplantation. Finally, a special matter of concern is the treatment of acute heart failure where therapeutic strategies are less standardized.

Addressing approaches to integrating humanism with science, and cases in which science has failed, succeeded, and could do more to promote our collective welfare, this book articulates a conception of the sciences for our times. It will interest a broad audience including philosophers, scientists, historians, and other scholars.

In diesem Open-Access Buch wird Hate Speech (oder synonym Hassrede) im Internet interdisziplinär diskutiert. Die Beiträge, die aus den Bereichen Linguistik, Sprachtechnologie, Informationswissenschaft und Politikwissenschaft stammen, beleuchten zentrale Fragen im Zusammenhang mit diesem Phänomen. Hierzu zählen aus sprachwissenschaftlicher Sicht zunächst die vielfältigen direkten und indirekten Erscheinungsformen von Hate Speech und ihre Rezeption. Aus informationswissenschaftlicher und computerlinguistischer Sicht wird der Forschungsstand in Bezug auf verschiedene maschinelle Verfahren zur automatischen Erkennung von Hate Speech wiedergegeben. Überdies wird erläutert, wie solche Verfahren evaluiert werden können. Daher stellt sich aus politikwissenschaftlicher Sicht nicht nur die Frage, wie digitale Hassrede derzeit reguliert wird und wie sich diese Regulierungsverfahren künftig entwickeln könnten, sondern auch, wie die automatische Erkennung reguliert werden müsste.

Between the 3rd and 5th centuries AD, the Roman Empire changed in many respects, but the core of the social order remained the same. The residential culture of the elites of the time provides insights into the relationship between continuity and transformation. To what extent did the residential neighbourhoods of the ancient cities change? Did the habits of residents and guests change, or did the taste of the owners change? These and other questions are discussed in detail using the example of a group of particularly well-preserved houses in the Roman harbour city of Ostia. The study clearly shows how the living culture of the Roman upper classes gradually changed in the interplay between supra-regional and local developments, tradition and innovation.

Le jet d’eau y apparaît en tant que thème valant par sa forme, ses connotations, ses renvois à d’autres images, sa circularité infinie, son dynamisme incessant, sa tension aporétique entre fluidité et solidité, montée et descente, exultation et abattement, etc. Mais simultanément, il apparaît comme figure valant par sa force, sa valeur seconde, métaphorique, allégorique ou parabolique, sa tendance à l’auto-réflexivité, son aptitude à représenter l’ordre du discours où il surgit. Non seulement thème mais méta-thème, le jet d’eau est l’une des images que véhicule le discours surréaliste tout en étant aussi le principe même dont elles sourdent toutes. Créateur d’images, Breton aime aussi à se pencher sur elles, à les observer et les interroger pour en percer le mystère, au moment même où il survient. Devant l’image du jet d’eau, il est arrêté, ravi en extase, exalté par la figure de son projet.

Achieving net-zero emissions will require both radical and incremental technological advancements, necessitating substantial investment for clean energy innovation. However, many energy technologies are characterized by investment barriers like a high capital intensity or revenue uncertainty, that translate into market, system, and transition failures. These failures create two critical phases for energy innovation finance dubbed “valleys of death,” which mark critical conjunctions along the technology lifecycle. Targeted policy interventions are essential to overcome these valleys of death. During early stages spanning the “first valley of death,” grants and equity investments by public and private actors are essential for research, development, and demonstration activities to develop technologies and create first prototypes. To overcome the “second valley of death,” moving towards commercialization and large-scale diffusion, interventions for lowering the costs of capital, such as de-risking by state investment banks, have been proven effective to enable the necessary asset finance. In this chapter, after discussing the financing challenges faced by clean energy technologies, we explore typical financing sources and policy interventions aimed at overcoming the challenges. By aligning public and private investments, targeted policy interventions can accelerate the development and deployment of clean energy innovations, driving progress toward net-zero emissions goals.
