In December 2019 the canonical recognition and the multidisciplinary study of the human remains of sant’Atto da Pistoia († 1153) took place in the cathedral of San Zeno in Pistoia. The investigation, which continued in the following months, included the anthropological and paleopathological examination, the radiological study through conventional X-ray and Computed Tomography, histological and immunohistochemistry analyses, radiometric dating and isotopical study for the reconstruction of the nutritional model and of the place of provenance. The results of the study showed that sant’Atto was a naturally mummified ancient human body. The state of preservation is good, even if evidences of restorations appeared in some areas of the body. Reconstruction of the biological profile of Atto outlines a male individual aged over 50 years, with a stature of about 168-170 cm. Paleopathological investigation indicated that the saint was suffering from caries, pulmonary anthracosis and osteoarthritis. The histological analysis showed a very good state of preservation of biological tissues. Radiocarbon dating places the saint's death between the tenth and eleventh centuries. The nutritional profile indicates a diet based on terrestrial and marine proteins, compatible with the status of abbot and bishop. Isotopical study suggests a compatibility of provenance of the saint with some Italian geographical areas, including the Alpine area, Tuscany, Lazio or Calabria.

Dabei zeigt Sator, dass die niedergeschriebenen Erfahrungen als Archiv zu verstehen sind, das nicht nur Informationen über das bereiste Land enthält, sondern auch Vorstellungen über Identität, Kultur und Geschlecht – sei es individuell oder kollektiv.

On the basis of three narratives that the author followed during a research stay as Visiting Research Fellow at CUNY the City University of New York, whose focus of study was Understanding Housing Dynamics: Frictions and Potentialities in Policies and Practices, the book brings back to the Italian debate some of the nodes of the housing issue as it is configured today in New York, proposing a mapping of the policies and programmes that address it, in order to elaborate a learning exercise from/with a decentralised perspective. The narratives also provide an opportunity to reflect on the management of affordability - reaffirmed as the primary objective of housing policy - around which to question the role of communities, the new postures of advocacy planning, social polarisations and spatial rights. Articulated in three parts that circumscribe a field of reflection straddling the pandemic as a moment that exacerbated certain features of the housing emergency, the book proposes a methodological lesson for Housing Studies in a comparative perspective.

Esta investigación colectiva sobre el tema de las migraciones asiáticas en México de los últimos cien años, se realizó teniendo como base el Registro Nacional de Extranjeros, el cual quedó depositado por la Secretaría de Gobernación en el Archivo General de la Nación casi a mediados de la década de los ochenta. Cada uno de los ensayos que conforman este volumen está complementado con documentos inéditos de archivos públicos y privados. Asimismo, los autores realizaron una serie de entrevistas a inmigrantes asentados en pueblos, ciudades y estados del país. Resulta interesante cómo a lo largo de los años, los que emigraron a México fueron amoldándose y asimilándose al país receptor.

Le capitaine Alfred Dreyfus fut réhabilité le 12 juillet 1906 par un arrêt de la Cour de cassation. Cet acte solennel et officiel détruisait l'accusation de « haute trahison », attestée par deux conseils de guerre, du brillant officier juif, intellectuel et moderniste, dont il proclamait la pleine et entière innocence. Tout au long d'un combat de plus de douze ans, combat finalement victorieux contre le nationalisme, l'antisémitisme et la raison d'État, où le régime républicain et la société française durent admettre la primauté des valeurs de justice et de vérité, l'École normale supérieure joua un rôle décisif qui marqua profondément l'institution, ses élèves, ses enseignants et, au-delà, l'ensemble du monde intellectuel et scientifique. Parmi ces normaliens, dreyfusards de la première heure — Lucien Lévy-Bruhl, Salomon Reinach, Alexandre Bertrand, Paul Appell —, il faut rappeler avec force le rôle de Lucien Herr, socialiste, germaniste et philosophe, directeur de la Bibliothèque des lettres de la rue d'Ulm. Sa conviction précoce puis son engagement total furent déterminants, à la fois pour lancer le mouvement dreyfusard à partir de janvier 1898 et pour mobiliser toute la communauté normalienne. Cette mobilisation inaugura des pratiques collectives ou individuelles, analytiques ou critiques, brèves ou déployées, bref un ensemble de postures et de procédures qui constituèrent ce qui fut appelé le mouvement des « intellectuels » au cours de l'affaire Dreyfus. Peu nombreux, les antidreyfusards de l'École furent emmenés par des conservateurs catholiques, tels les académiciens Jules Lemaître ou Ferdinand Brunetière. Naquirent alors des débats passionnants et victorieux sur la légitimité du rôle du chercheur dans la cité et le devoir de connaissance dans l'engagement. Réunie par Vincent Duclert, professeur agrégé à l'École des Hautes Études en sciences sociales et biographe d'Alfred Dreyfus (Fayard, 2006), la présente anthologie raisonnée des écrits normaliens sur l'Affaire restitue l'essentiel de ces témoignages et de ces débats.

The field of medical and surgical retina has grown exponentially over the recent few decades. Several novel and promising treatments, technological developments, and advanced surgical techniques have become available for eye conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, diabetic retinopathy and macular oedema, retinal detachment, macular holes and membranes, genetic disorders, uveitis, and inflammations. This Special Issue summarizes modern therapeutic and surgical approaches to retinal and vitreoretinal diseases, making a valuable contribution to our existing knowledge, describing the current state of the art, and providing directions for future research.

Psychiatric disorders in adolescents are an important social problem relevant to almost all healthcare professionals. The prevalence of mood, anxiety, substance use and other psychiatric disorders among adolescents is high. However, medical professionals are not sufficiently trained about adolescent psychiatric disorders. Primary care providers correctly identify less than a fourth of youth with a depressive or anxiety disorder and many clinicians underestimate the importance of the problem of adolescent psychiatric illnesses and suicidal behavior. Multiple clinical, neurobiological, cultural and legal aspects of psychiatric disorders in adolescents are discussed in this book.

La mostra dal titolo Il libro di Bessarione in difesa di Platone: nell’officina dell’ultimo filosofo bizantino celebra la figura di Bessarione, una delle personalità più affascinanti e, al contempo, uno dei Bizantini più influenti del quindicesimo secolo. Oggetto dell’esposizione sono alcuni preziosi documenti conservati nella Biblioteca Marciana: manoscritti, incunaboli, prime versioni a stampa dell’In Calumniatorem Platonis, il capolavoro di Bessarione. Il percorso espositivo permette al visitatore di entrare nell’‘officina’ di Bessarione e di ripercorrere le tappe del lungo e travagliato percorso intellettuale che portò all’elaborazione e pubblicazione dell’opera bessarionea, seguendo insieme le vicende dei testi in cui il progetto filosofico e culturale di Bessarione andava via via concretizzandosi. Il presente catalogo accompagna il percorso espositivo consentendo al visitatore una più proficua fruizione della mostra e aprendo al contempo interessanti orizzonti di approfondimento. Il volume si apre con un saggio che introduce al percorso espositivo; la seconda parte contiene le immagini dei documenti esposti, corredate da una breve descrizione; la terza parte ospita alcuni saggi critici che illuminano aspetti particolari dell’opera bessarionea.

"During the Late Bronze Age, the Iron Age and early medieval period (c. 600 BC–AD 1250) settlement at Vik in the Ørland peninsula emerged, flourished, vanished and emerged anew. Local landscape and vegetation development, cross-regional cultural developments and global climatic events were of great significance to the farmer-fisher communities at Vik throughout these periods. In this book, results from the 2014–2016 archaeological excavations at Ørland main air base have been refined and developed. The 13 papers deal with landscape, vegetation and environmental aspects related to the excavated settlement, as well as the spatial and social organization of the built environment. Building traditions, disposal practices, the form and representation of everyday objects, subsistence and landscape use are central to the discussions."

La sériciculture – l'élevage des vers à soie – a été pratiquée en Cévennes à partir du xiiie siècle. Françoise Clavairolle en restitue la mémoire, des débuts du xixe siècle aux années 1960. Cependant, plus que relater des savoir-faire, elle rend compte de cette pratique dans la pluralité de ses dimensions : économique, sociale et symbolique. L'auteur décrit ces multiples facettes avec une extrême minu­tie, soulignant la manière dont elles s'ajustent les unes par rapport aux autres. Après s'être livrée à une archéologie des savoirs relatifs au ver à soie, le magnan, ainsi que des savoir-faire à l'œuvre dans la sériciculture, elle met en évidence le rôle prépondérant des femmes auxquelles incombe la responsabilité de 1' « éducation » des vers à soie. Son analyse de l'organisation sociale de la sérici­culture dévoile les relations complexes qui lient les éleveurs et les filateurs. Les continuités et les mutations de la société cévenole sont ainsi saisies à travers le prisme d'une activité qui apparaît comme une clé de voûte sociale et économique. Ce faisant, Françoise Clavairolle ne cède pas à la tentation de confondre activité séricicole et culture cévenole. Inscrivant l'ana­lyse du système technique dans sa dynamique socio-historique, elle questionne la disparition de cette activité et s'interroge sur les conditions de son renouveau.
