Diese Untersuchung zu den deutsch-niederländischen Beziehungen im Ersten Weltkrieg thematisiert die deutsche kultur- und pressepolitische Arbeit in den Niederlanden. Sie versucht den ,Lockvogelgesang‘, das ,Werben‘ und seine Wirksamkeit darzustellen. Die wechselseitige Perzeption der beiden Nachbarstaaten wurde geprägt von der Unterschiedlichkeit der Länder in Tradition und Mentalität. Zu Recht stellte in jener Zeit schon der Kunsthistoriker und Niederlandekenner Friedrich K. A. (Fritz) Wiehert fest, es sei überraschend, wie wenig die Deutschen über die Niederlande und wie wenig die Niederländer über Deutschland wüssten, trotz oder gerade wegen der nachbarlichen Nähe. Was wurde unternommen, welche Mittel wurden eingesetzt, um die Niederlande zu einer Parteinahme zu bewegen oder sie Deutschland wenigstens gewogen zu stimmen? Hier ist vor allem der in Den Haag tätigen geheimen Hilfsstelle eine wichtige Rolle zuzuschreiben. Ihre Aufgabe war es, das neutrale Nachbarland durch kulturelle Mittel deutschfreundlich zu beeinflussen mit der Zielvorgabe, die Niederlande in einen kulturellen Außenposten im Sinne des Deutschen Reiches zu verwandeln.

Quality of life depends on a series of objective indicators and subjective evaluations of all the living spaces that affect human beings’ economic, social, physical, and psychological dimensions and has the potential to serve individual and social development. Ensuring satisfactory quality of life will bring about decent socio-economic conditions, such as in the conceptualization of decent work. Newly improved conditions will also bring higher quality, and policymakers and decision-makers at the institutional level have great responsibilities in this context. This book addresses quality of life and its related issues from an interdisciplinary perspective and discusses them at a conceptual and theoretical level. The book includes classifying the quality of life indicators by considering their individual, social, economic, and organizational context. The application section examines the quality of life of international students, a fragile population group who’ve experienced various disadvantages during the COVID-19 global health crisis. As a matter of fact, each international student provides human capital at the global level, and serves to construct an incorruptible and inexhaustible value in shaping a future that concerns all of humanity. This value will preserve its existence in all economic, social, cultural, and political fields and serve as the mortar in constructing the foundations for a better quality of life. This book has been prepared with this intention in order to address the issue of quality of life and to guide the decisions and practices regarding identifying the quality of life and problem areas of international students studying at Istanbul University in the context of COVID-19 restrictions.

Explorando las relaciones intradiscursivas: Un enfoque multidimensional takes a multifaceted approach to provide a complete and integrative analysis of intra-discursive relationships. This edited collection approaches intra-discursive relationships from different discursive dimensions (such as informative, argumentative, or modal) which influence the construction of the text to identify common and functional relationships to any type of discourse. Female protagonists are commonly overlooked in the history of crime; especially in early modern Italy, where women’s scope of action is often portrayed as heavily restricted. This book redresses the notion of Italian women’s passivity, arguing that women’s crimes were far too common to be viewed as an anomaly. Based on over two thousand criminal complaints and investigation dossiers, Sanne Muurling charts the multifaceted impact of gender on patterns of recorded crime in early modern Bologna. While various socioeconomic and legal mechanisms withdrew women from the criminal justice process, the casebooks also reveal that women – as criminal offenders and savvy litigants – had an active hand in keeping the wheels of the court spinning.

Si l’histoire des États nationaux a de longue date suscité de très nombreuses publications, afin d’en analyser les évolutions contemporaines, les recherches historiques invitent aujourd’hui à mieux prendre en considération les spécificités des constructions impériales qui se sont succédé de l’Antiquité à nos jours, et ce dans le cadre d’approches « globales » permettant un décentrement des regards. The African higher education landscape has experienced a myriad of success and challenges in the past five decades. This has turned the landscape into a complex one, enmeshed in a rich dose of colonial legacies, globalisation, decolonisation, COVID-19, and internationalisation focused on North-South partnerships amongst others. While researchers globally have contributed immensely to the growth of research in African higher education, scholars within the African higher education landscape have also contributed immensely to the growth in higher education both on the African continent and globally. The fact that some African universities make it into the top 500 universities worldwide in different rankings testifies to this assertion. The continued existence of the Russian defence and arms industry (OPK) was called into question following the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991. Industry experts cited the lack of a domestic market, endemic corruption, and excess capacity within the industry as factors underpinning its predicted demise. However, the industry's export customers in China, India and Iran during those early years became the OPK's saving grace. Their orders introduced hard currency back into the industry and went a long way to preventing the forecasted OPK collapse. Although pessimistic predictions continued to plague the OPK throughout the 1990s, the valuable export dollars provided the OPK the breathing space it needed to claw back its competitive advantage as an arms producer. That revival has been further underpinned by a new political commitment, various research and development initiatives, and the restoration of defence industry as a tool of Russian foreign policy.The short-term future of the Russian OPK looks promising. The rising domestic defence order is beginning to challenge the export market as the OPK's most important customer. Meanwhile, exports will be safeguarded by continued foreign demand for niche Russian defence products. Although the long-term future of the OPK is more difficult to predict, Russia's solid research and development foundation and successful international joint military ventures suggest that the current thriving trend in exports is likely to continue. Russia represents the next generation of affordable and rugged military equipment for the arsenals of the developing world. Coupled with Russia's growing ability to rearm itself through higher oil prices and a more streamlined defence industry, the future of the OPK looks bright.

This Special Issue aims to dismantle the mechanisms and molecular pathways underlying COVID-19-induced coagulopathy, and present the current advances made possible by our colleagues’ research. The 15 published paper contributions encompassed molecular recruitment and binding, enzymatic dynamics and hemostasis disorders, as well as imagistic high-risk identifiers among the coronary disease population affected by the virus, the connection between psychiatric patients also affected and the thrombosis risk of their antipsychotic therapy, and complications in pediatric patients, along with those with primary and secondary immune disorders. As underlined by the published papers, this Special Issue has brought important contributions in understanding the root mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2-induced coagulopathy, defining diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, and establishing the role of anti-coagulant and anti-thrombotic therapies which are the most effective for this complex disease. We are pleased to acknowledge that researchers from various fields came together in an effort to provide necessary data about the many forms and manifestations of the coagulations disorders challenging the medical community since the early stages of the pandemic. These data can represent a basis for further studies and a fertile ground for later developments.

Publikacja poświęcona jest podnoszeniu sprawności organizacji przez komunikowanie wewnętrzne. Autorka uznaje bowiem niewłaściwą komunikację wewnątrzorganizacyjną za główną przyczynę nieprawidłowego funkcjonowania organizacji. Zaprezentowany w monografii autorski model organizacji jako systemu sieci zintegrowanych relacji komunikowania stanowi propozycję opisu i analizy organizacji przez pryzmat komunikowania. Komunikacja odgrywa w nim rolę służebną wobec koordynacji, im lepsze jest narzędzie – komunikacja, tym lepszy efekt koordynacyjny. Model koordynacji organizacyjnej wraz z grupami wskaźników pozwala natomiast określić poziom sprawności organizacji oraz wskazuje obszary, w których wymaga ona poprawy. Oba modele zastosowane łącznie pozwalają na oznaczenie dynamiki zmian sprawności organizacji w czasie.
