This monograph discusses the importance of A. L. Hülsen's only book for the history of early German idealism. The Wissenschaftslehre is Fichte's ""response"" to the objections of Schulze-Aenesidemus to Reinhold's early Elementarphilosophie. Hülsen, a Fichtean thinker, restructured many aspects of Reinhold's system which Fichte left intact. In 1797, Fichte recognized Hülsen as a partner in the development of his system, thus acknowledging his contribution to the emergence of German idealism.

Meeting environmental and societal challenges requires responses that integrate a wide range of perspectives from different disciplines (i.e., interdisciplinary integration), as well as from science, policy, and practice (i.e., transdisciplinary integration). When integration is embedded in teaching activities, a third dimension of the process is required: integrative teaching and learning. In using the term “integrative teaching and learning,” we understand an iterative and reflexive process performed by lecturers when collaborating in a teaching and learning environment that includes the actions of individual reflections on integration from different knowledge backgrounds and research cultures, collective discussions, and continuous adaptations of the course structure and content. In this chapter, we present practical experiences and examples from a master’s course in the environmental sciences program at ETH Zurich (Switzerland). Drawing on case studies, we have designed a collaborative master’s course offering students a setting to explore the theories, concepts, methods, and tools of integration in a hands-on experimental setting. To approach integrative teaching and learning successfully, we invited students and lecturers to build a personal learning journal with reflections on the challenges and opportunities they experience in bringing their different perspectives together and developing a shared perspective on integration. The chapter explores the value and utility of the teaching and learning journal for lecturers.

With the advances in high-speed computer technology, complex heat transfer and fluid flow problems can be solved computationally with high accuracy. Computational modeling techniques have found a wide range of applications in diverse fields of mechanical, aerospace, energy, environmental engineering, as well as numerous industrial systems. Computational modeling has also been used extensively for performance optimization of a variety of engineering designs. The purpose of this book is to present recent advances, as well as up-to-date progress in all areas of innovative computational heat transfer and fluid mechanics, including both fundamental and practical applications. The scope of the present book includes single and multiphase flows, laminar and turbulent flows, heat and mass transfer, energy storage, heat exchangers, respiratory flows and heat transfer, biomedical applications, porous media, and optimization. In addition, this book provides guidelines for engineers and researchers in computational modeling and simulations in fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

This open access book summarizes research being pursued within the CIRC-UITS project, funded by the European Union community under the Horizon Europe programme, the goal of which is to demonstrate the improvement of circularity of automotive and mass electronics sectors by recovering materials from waste products, as well as supporting the reuse and remanufacturing of electronic components into new (high value) products in these sectors. To this aim, the CIRC-UITS project wants to unlock the full potentials/benefits of circular practices through digital technologies. Specifically, within the project, digital twins, augmented reality, web platforms and simulation tools have been developed. Another important objective is the increase of resource efficiency/independency and reduction of the negative environmental footprint of electronics production processes through circular behaviors. To this aim, within the CIRC-UITS project a set of methodologies and decision-support tools for the assessment and advisory of sustainability and circularity performances have been developed. Another important objective is the improvement/standardization of information/data sharing/exchange among industrial leaders involved in the same and/or similar value chain. To this aim, the CIRC-UITS project’s consortium has been actively involved in the development of two CEN Workshop Agreements, one about the implementation of a Digital Product Passport (DPP) dedicated to electronic components and another dedicated to the application of the standard EN 45554 in the automotive industry. Finally, the CIRC-UITS project demonstrated the benefits coming from the adoption of a Digital Circular Economy through 4 pilots, one on Electronic Control Units (ECU), one on Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors (TPMS), one on In-Mold Electronics (IME) and one on sorting of obsolete Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) from washing machines.

Une équipe pluridisciplinaire de vingt-cinq chercheurs analyse l’évolution des processus de la prescription culturelle, de l’imprimé au numérique. Qu’ils soient économiques, créatifs, identitaires ou éthiques, les enjeux de la prescription interrogent ses effets sur la culture en matière de contenus, de pratiques et de valeurs. De manière inédite, se donne à voir ce grand méconnu de la culture dite de masse : le public.

A reexamination of the causes of violence in Latin America and a challenge to preconceptions of the possibility of change. Latin America is one of the most violent regions in the world. It has suffered waves of repressive authoritarian rule, organized armed insurgency and civil war, violent protest, and ballooning rates of criminal violence. But is violence hard-wired into Latin America? This is a critical reassessment of the ways in which violence in Latin America is addressed and understood. Previous approaches have relied on structural perspectives, attributing the problem of violence to Latin America’s colonial past or its conflictual contemporary politics. Bringing together scholars and practitioners, this volume argues that violence is often rooted more in contingent outcomes than in deeply embedded structures. Addressing topics ranging from the root sources of violence in Haiti to kidnapping in Colombia, from the role of property rights in patterns of violence to the challenges of peacebuilding, The Politics of Violence in Latin America is an essential step towards understanding the causes and contexts of violence—and changing the mechanisms that produce it.

In jüngerer Zeit haben zahlreiche Staaten ihr Staatsangehörigkeitsrecht um Bestimmungen ergänzt, die die Ausbürgerung von Terroristen ermöglichen. Mit dieser Entwicklung setzt sich das vorliegende Werk auseinander. Dabei werden zunächst die historischen Vorläufer heutiger Ausbürgerungsregelungen von der Antike bis in die Gegenwart untersucht, bevor sodann vergleichend die Regelungen Frankreichs, des Vereinigten Königreichs und Deutschlands dargestellt werden. Auf dieser Grundlage werden anschließend die - oftmals historisch geprägten - Beschränkungen staatlicher Befugnisse im Bereich der Ausbürgerung analysiert, die sich aus dem Völker-, Europa- und Verfassungsrecht ergeben.

Esta pregunta no es sino uno de los hilos conductores de este libro colectivo.Nettel es una de las escritoras mexicanas e incluso hispanoamericanas más afamadas del momento. Traducida a dieciocho idiomas, no deja de acumular premios y distinciones (inter)nacionales. Con ocasión del trigésimo aniversario de Juegos de artificio (1993), su ópera prima, ocho investigadores e investigadoras provenientes de ambos lados del Atlántico proponen en diálogo un análisis crítico del conjunto de su obra, e inclusive, de su papel como gestora cultural.
