This book is the result of the research project "Aging and Old Age, a Perspective from Human Body Movement and Health," developed by the Corps group, affiliated with the Physiotherapy program at the University of Boyacá. The work addresses the topic of aging, contextualized within the framework of Colombia's 2015-2024 human aging and old age policy. The elderly population of the country has been increasing. Characterized as a heterogeneous group with psychological, social, cultural, and biological particularities, it also presents changes in its physical and functional capacity and is exposed to Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases (NCCDs). In this context, the purpose of this text is to analyze aging from the physiotherapeutic understanding of Human Body Movement (HBM), which among its attributes includes functionality, thru which the individual performs in various public and private life scenarios. There are six chapters developed: I. Health-related quality of life in older adults with urinary incontinence, II. Falls in older adults, III. Evaluation of autonomy, independence, and functionality in older adults, IV. Physical activity and functionality in older adults, V. Support social networks in the quality of life of older adults and VI. Esthetics of the aging body.

Financial crises are nothing new in the annals of history of the capitalistic path of economic development; indeed, they are part of business cycle. The theoretical basis for this is well entrenched in the concept of ‘Keynesian Cross’. Tales of crises date back centuries, but have taken a new turn as the race for more globalization goes on, which involves liberalizing trade and opening up the financial sector. This has made many nations vulnerable to crises that are likely to be repeated, perhaps frequently. Based on recent experience, warning signs can be seen in the dollar-centric exchange rate, which is the mainstay for the stability of the current global financial system. To a careful observer, there is clearly fatigue in the system.

Die Aufsätze des vorliegenden Bandes fokussieren die Didaktik der deutschen Sprache aus trans- und interkultureller Sicht. Insbesondere werden Methodik und Fortbildung des Lehrens sowie die Entwicklung neuer Motivationsformen zum Deutschlernen durch Beiträge aus verschiedenen Ländern behandelt. Focusing on the experiences of Thailand and Australia, this book examines the impact of trade-restrictive measures as related to the EU’s regulations to prevent Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. It is widely accepted that IUU fishing is harmful, and should be stopped, but there are different approaches to tackling it. Acknowledging this, this book argues that major efforts to fight IUU fishing require careful analyses if the goal is to achieve optimal results and avoid unintended consequences. The book draws on the recent experiences of Thailand and Australia to offer an empirical examination of one increasingly prominent solution, trade-restrictive measures. With Thailand representing direct, active intervention by the EU and Australia a more indirect dispersion of policy narratives and discourses, the book provides a rounded view on how likely it is that different countries in different situations will adapt to the changing policy norms regarding IUU fishing. Understanding the reactions of countries who might be targeted, or otherwise be influenced by the policy, generates new knowledge that helps inform a more effective and scalable implementation of the policy on the part of the EU and a better governance preparedness on the part of non-EU fishing nations. In broader terms, this book exposes a key moment of change in the compatibility between environmental regulations and international trade. The EU IUU policy is a prime example of a policy that uses the mechanisms of international trade to account for environmental and conservation objectives. By way of the unilateral and trade-restrictive stance against IUU fishing, the EU has positioned itself as a major market and normative power, driving its sustainability norms outwards. This book sheds light on the efficacy of this policy setup based on the analysis of country perspectives, which is a key factor influencing its potential spread. This book will be of interest to students and scholars of international fisheries politics, marine conservation, environmental policy and international trade, and will also be of interest to policymakers working in these areas.

Visual arts are the natural interpretative context of the prose work of Zygmunt Haupt, the author who, apart from writing, dealt with painting, drawing and graphics. The mechanisms of painting vision can easily be captured in his stories, but it is worth remembering that he understood plastic art very broadly, including not only painting and sculpture, but also architecture, photography, cinema and theater. Haupt uses these areas of art as a tool to support writing efforts that allow: 1/ to capture the inexpressible, 2/ indicate the complexity of the modern world, 3/ signal the trauma of past experiences. In Haupt’s prose, visual art is also a search for the truth of things and events, emerging from the clash of the possibilities of various conventions and artistic strategies.

Die vorliegende Arbeit verknüpft empirische und theoretische Erkenntniselemente über die Entwicklung der öffentlichen Personalausgaben mit Hilfe einer Kausalitätsanalyse. Die Studie setzt bei der Entwicklung der Personalausgaben und ihrer Komponenten an und stellt anschließend einige theoretische Ansätze dar, die Aussagen zur relativen Entwicklung der Personalausgaben beinhalten. Die Integration von theoretischen und empirischen Aspekten geschieht im Zuge einer Überprüfung von Preisstruktureffekt und Folgelastenhypothese.
