Since the handover, there has been ongoing debate over whether Hong Kong’s political system is characterized by executive-led governance or separation of powers. The SAR government has often struggled to secure sufficient support in the Legislative Council when introducing bills and major policies, resulting in delays or shelving of initiatives. Governance has become increasingly difficult, and the divide between the executive and legislative branches has grown more severe. If this situation continues or worsens, it will seriously hinder Hong Kong’s development. The authors compare the interaction between executive and legislative powers under different political systems and review developments during the colonial era, the design of the Basic Law, and changes in governance after the handover, in order to analyze the causes of the current predicament. The book also examines the functions of the Legislative Council and the dynamics of party politics, revealing the tug-of-war between the two branches. This book aims to encourage readers to reflect on institutional design and political structures, to explore ways of improving executive–legislative relations, and to enhance the effectiveness of governance in Hong Kong.

Lozano Guerrero, et la pièce qui lui a valu le prix national de dramaturgie en 2006, Les Fins diffuses des choses. Cette œuvre emblématique cherche à éviter le dogmatisme du théâtre militant aussi bien que le nihilisme du théâtre postdramatique et dénonce les turpitudes de l’ère libérale. Éditée en espagnol et traduite en français, elle est accompagnée d’un entretien avec l’auteur et d’une étude qui la replace dans une histoire du théâtre qu’il s’agit encore de décoloniser.

This is the sixth edition of a data collection initiative that started in 1993 under the umbrella of the Council of Europe and has been continued since 2000 by an international group of experts. These experts also act as regional coordinators of a network of national correspondents whose contribution has been decisive in collecting and validating data on a variety of subjects from 42 countries. The Sourcebook is composed of six chapters. The first five cover the current main types of national crime and criminal justice statistics – police, prosecution, conviction, prison, and probation statistics – for the years 2011 to 2016, providing detailed analysis for 2015. The sixth chapter covers national victimization surveys, providing rates for the main indicators every five years from 1990 to 2015. As with every new edition of the Sourcebook, the group has tried to improve data quality as well as comparability and, where appropriate, increase the scope of data collection. This new edition will continue to promote comparative research throughout Europe and make European experiences and data available worldwide.

This Edited Volume "Algae" is a collection of reviewed and relevant research chapters, offering a comprehensive overview of recent developments in the field of Agricultural and Biological Sciences. The book comprises single chapters authored by various researchers and edited by an expert active in the Agricultural and Biological Sciences research area. All chapters are complete in itself but united under a common research study topic. Im Sommer 2014 beschloss der Hamburger Senat, die Hansestadt solle als erste Stadt in Deutschland mit der Aufarbeitung ihrer Kolonialvergangenheit beginnen. Das Buch untersucht die Verhandlungen über die Neuausrichtung städtischer Erinnerungspolitik im Rahmen des Runden Tisches »Koloniales Erbe« und beleuchtet dabei die sozialen Bedingungen des kollektiven Erinnerns der europäischen Kolonialherrschaft. Mit ihrer machttheoretischen Perspektive bietet die Fallstudie fundierte Einblicke in die Konflikte und Kompromisse zu den Kompetenzen der unterschiedlichen erinnerungspolitischen Akteure und die Deutungen der städtischen Kolonialvergangenheit und ihrer Folgen.

EEG-based neurofeedback is used as a treatment approach in attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a clinically and pathophysiologically heterogeneous child psychiatric disorder. There is increasing evidence for specific effects of neurofeedback when applying 'standard' protocols (slow cortical potentials, theta/beta, sensorimotor rhythm). Knowledge about underlying mechanisms and moderating variables is increasing. Nevertheless, further well-controlled and conducted trials are needed to answer open questions concerning optimisation and individualisation of neurofeedback. Further improvements may develop with new methods and technical developments (e.g., tomographic neurofeedback) and new concepts (integrated ADHD treatment). This Frontiers Research Topic comprising 14 articles intends to answer the following questions concerning neurofeedback in ADHD: • How efficacious is neurofeedback? • What is the rationale of applying a certain neurofeedback protocol in ADHD? • What are central mechanisms and which moderating variables may affect training and treatment outcome? • How to optimise treatment? What are new developments and which benefits may be expected? Aspects of learning theory are also stressed dissociating 'neurofeedback as a treatment' and 'neurofeedback as entertainment'. In the Editorial, this crucial aspect is compared to the way you read (and study) a scientific book versus reading a thriller for leisure. Millets are a group of small-seeded grasses that have been grown as food sources for humans and animals since ancient times. These crops are highly nutritious and have a range of health benefits. They are also highly adaptable to different growing conditions, making them an important crop for farmers in arid and drought-prone regions. Millets have been an integral part of the traditional diets of many cultures around the world and have gained renewed attention in recent years as a sustainable, low-input alternative to other cereal crops. Despite their many benefits, millets have been largely overlooked by modern industrial agriculture, and their cultivation and use have declined in many regions. There is a growing recognition of the need to promote and support the conservation and revival of millet cultivation as a key strategy to enhance food security and resilience in the face of climate change.

In an era where chemical engineering systems must meet evolving demands, such as greater sustainability, leaner footprints, and smarter integration, the 2nd Edition of Innovation in Chemical Plant Design in Processes invited innovative contributions to redefine how we conceive, build, and operate chemical production plants. Building on the success of the first edition, this Special Issue highlighted advances across several synergistic fronts: process intensification and modularization; novel (bio-)based or low-impact energy systems; digitalization, control and automation in plant analytics; advanced materials, nanotechnologies, and smart reactors; and circular-economy strategies applied to chemical-plant design in sectors such as energy, food/agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and construction. In dieser modernen und hektischen Großstadt war Thea de Terra, die jüngste Enkelin Theodor Fontanes, ganz in ihrem Element: Als Bardame im Hotel Adlon, Schauspielerin und ambitionierte Autorennfahrerin. Auf ihrem Dixi 3/15 PS bestritt sie zahlreiche Rennen und wurde für die Automobilindustrie zur Werbefigur. Regina Dieterle skizziert auf der Grundlage neuester Recherchen das bewegte Leben Thea de Terras: Von ihrer Jugend im kaiserlichen Berlin über die erfolgreiche Rennfahrkarriere in der zweiten Hälfte der 1920er Jahre bis zum tragischen Unfalltod 1939 in der Schweiz. Dabei geht es nicht zuletzt um die Rolle der »neuen Frau« und die Chancen, die der männerdominierte Rennsport couragierten Fahrerinnen bot – vorausgesetzt, sie hielten auch den Widrigkeiten stand.

This book is open access under a CC BY-NC-ND license. This volume analyzes the economic, social, and political challenges that emerging states confront today. Notwithstanding the growing importance of the ‘emerging states’ in global affairs and governance, many problems requiring immediate solutions have emerged at home largely as a consequence of the rapid economic development and associated sociopolitical changes. The middle-income trap is a major economic challenge faced by emerging states. This volume regards interest coordination for technological upgrading as crucial to avoid the trap and examines how various emerging states are grappling with this challenge by fostering public-private cooperation, voluntary associations of market players, and/or social networks. Social disparity is another serious problem. It is deeply rooted in history in the emerging states such as South Africa and many Latin American countries. However, income distribution is recently deteriorating even in East Asia that was once praised for its high economic growth with equity. Increasing pressure for political opening is another challenge for emerging states. This volume argues that the economic, social, and political problems are interwoven in the sense that the emerging states need to build political consensus in order to tackle the economic and social difficulties. Democratic institutions have not always been successful in this respect.

El presente volumen es fruto de la colaboración y del intercambio de experiencias de hispanistas de diversos países que comparten un mismo interés por promover la investigación en los ámbitos de la lingüística, la metodología de la enseñanza de ELE y la traductología. El tomo incluye 32 trabajos de 34 auto- res de universidades de Alemania, Bulgaria, España, Estados Unidos, Francia, Marruecos, México y Polonia. La mayoría de los estudios (23) está dedicada a diferentes temas de lingüística descriptiva, mientras que en los demás trabajos se examinan cuestiones glotodidácticas (5) y traductológicas (4).
