Envelope's Details for the Green Airport Terminal is a contribution to airport design at working plan level, although its contents may be generalized and applied to the definition of performances as well as to the design solutions for the building's envelope itself. The airport is considered a critical and complex system in the matter of sustainability. The vision of life-cycle typical of air terminal design processes may be transferred to the technical choices pertaining its envelope. The volume discusses these issues in a practical and user oriented way, analyzing Performance Based Design documentation; Performance sheets samples; Bid documentation; Building Technology items; Bill of Quantities rules and samples; Technical Solutions by international drawing standards. Details catalogue and updated references lists are included

Educating involves accompanying, observing attentively, listening respectfully, and understanding that all formative experiences are relational and occur within a context. This book stems from this conviction and brings together contributions that engage with the current challenges of training, intervention, and professional work with individuals and communities. Its chapters offer a situated, sensitive, and rigorous reading of accompaniment practices, integrating academic knowledge, local experiences, interdisciplinary reflections, and challenges for training in the 21st century. The work invites us to consider relationships, trajectories, and care processes as central dimensions for building more relevant, ethical, and transformative responses in educational, social, and community spaces.

This open access book critically explores what child protection policy and professional practice would mean if practice was grounded in human rights standards. This book inspires a new direction in child protection research – one that critically assesses child protection policy and professional practice with regard to human rights in general, and the rights of the child in particular. Each chapter author seeks to approach the rights of the child from their own academic field of interest and through a comparative lens, making the research relevant across nation-state practices. The book is split into five parts to focus on the most important aspects of child protection. The first part explains the origins, aim, and scope of the book; the second part explores aspects of professionalism and organization through law and policy; and the third part discusses several key issues in child protection and professional practice in depth. The fourth part discusses selected areas of importance to child protection practices (low-impact in-house measures, public care in residential care and foster care respectively) and the fifth part provides an analytical summary of the book. Overall, it contributes to the present need for a more comprehensive academic debate regarding the rights of the child, and the supranational perspective this brings to child protection policy and practice across and within nation-states.

The topic of engineering fluid dynamics includes both experimental as well as computational studies. Of special interest were submissions from the fields of mechanical, chemical, marine, safety, and energy engineering. We welcomed both original research articles as well as review articles. After one year, 22 papers were submitted and 12 were accepted for publication. The average processing time was 65.2 days. The authors had the following geographical distribution: China (four); Italy (two); Korea (one); Germany (one); UK (one); Ireland (one); Australia (one); Sweden (one); Japan (one); Spain (one); Norway (one). Papers covered topics such as heat transfer in shell and helically coiled tube heat exchangers, the multiphase modeling of sprays, flashing flows, as well as mixing in a bubbling fluidized bed. Two papers related to heating ventilation and air condition (HVAC) are included, namely evaporation and condensation in the underfloor space of detached houses and air distribution in a railway vehicle. Three papers dealt with various aspects of pumps and turbines: a performance prediction method for pumps as turbines; noise radiation in a centrifugal pump; periodic fluctuations in energy efficiency in centrifugal pumps; and study of a high-pressure external gear pump. One paper used both laser doppler velocimetry (LDV) and CFD in the study of flow behind a semi-circular step cylinder. Finally, a paper investigated the influence of the equivalence ratio (ER) and feedstock particle size on birch wood gasification.

My Works, Ye Mighty expands upon the conceptual literature of Christian Bök, particularly his ongoing project, entitled The Xenotext. Based upon work conducted during his tenure as the Writer-in-Residence at Athabasca University, this essay addresses the concept of “scale” in poetry, meditating on this topic with an abundance of imagery; moreover, his essay appears alongside an epic poem especially written by him for this publication.

This book provides an extended introduction to the scripture translations of Biraban, an Awabakal man, and the missionary Lancelot Threlkeld. It examines Threlkeld’s linguistic field work in Raiatea prior to coming to New South Wales. It places the translations he undertook in the context of Australian missionary linguistics and the rapid advance of the settler frontier, for which he was a key eyewitness. It analyses the motivation and collaboration between Biraban and Threlkeld in the light of discoveries of new manuscripts, including that of the Gospel of St Matthew, as well as Threlkeld’s personal diary, neither of which have previously been analysed. The review includes a linguistic and ethnographic analysis of the complete corpus of Biraban and Threlkeld’s collaboration. It includes a complete list of the Threlkeld manuscripts and the many printed editions, including those available online. For historical purposes, it includes a copy of the unique standalone edition of the Gospel of Saint Luke, presented by the editor, James Fraser, to the British and Foreign Bible Society. The original is now in Cambridge University Library. It also includes a full digitisation of Threlkeld’s autograph manuscript, illuminated by Annie Layard, in Auckland City Library.

To encounter Sound Me Out: A Lifetime of Music and Memories is to experience the extraordinary journey of a woman who has shaped the soundscape of South Africa. Jeanne’s story unfolds not only as a chronicle of personal achievement, but also as a reflection of our nation’s cultural evolution - one that spans from the apartheid years to a democracy still finding its harmony. Her achievement as the first woman in South Africa to be awarded a doctorate in music composition, her studies with the renowned György Ligeti, and her prolific output of over eighty compositions all stand as testimony to her remarkable intellect and creative courage. Yet it is Jeanne’s deep humanity that has always struck me most. Whether composing an oratorio for human rights, mentoring young composers, or collaborating across genres and cultures, she approaches each endeavour with empathy, insight, and an infectious enthusiasm for discovery. Beyond her outstanding contribution to music, Jeanne possesses an extraordinary gift for language. She is, without doubt, one of the most eloquent and expressive writers I have encountered in my life. Her writing - at once precise, lyrical, and deeply thoughtful - mirrors the same artistry that characterises her music. It comes, I believe, from the same inner well of imagination and intellect that makes her such a fascinating creative force.

Posits a New German Jewish Literature that has surprising implications for today's German Jewish - and Jewish - identity, including solidarity with others, even after October 7, 2023. Eighty years after the Holocaust, it is now possible to speak of a New German Jewish Literature. Emerging out of a community that, following the arrival of more than 200,000 people of Jewish ancestry from the former Soviet Union, is now vastly larger, increasingly diverse, and culturally vibrant, German Jewish writers are re-articulating what it means to be Jewish in the "land of the perpetrators." More generally, they are also rethinking Jewish values and Jewish solidarity against the backdrop of global events and trends such as the resurgence of antisemitism, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and growing intolerance toward ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities. Stuart Taberner's book provides the first comprehensive account of the tension between Jewish particularism and Jewish universalism that characterizes this New German Jewish Literature. To what extent should Jewish identity be focused on the "Jewishness" of the Jewish experience, including the Holocaust? Or does "Jewish purpose" reside in expressing solidarity with persecuted minorities everywhere? Taberner argues that this new literature presents an aesthetically engaging and politically nuanced deliberation on Holocaust memory, on worldliness, and on solidarity - with sometimes surprising and radical implications for modern-day German Jewish and Jewish identity. He also examines authors' responses to the Hamas attack on Israel of October 7, 2023, and speculates about the future of German Jewish writing. In consideration of the ever-increasing global population, the demand for food—and on food-production—is massive. It is critical that we are able to meet this demand and mitigate the risks and factors that challenge our ability to do so, including pestilence to food crops and biological threats to food safety, before food reaches the consumer. As such, the advancement of measures to both protect crops and facilitate the surety of safe food products to end-users is a research area of great interest and growing development. This book details exciting new research into the use of natural compounds for the protection of crops and food products. From essential oils and their potential uses as naturally derived antimicrobial agents to the use of carbon dioxide as a pesticide and the use of biofertilisers, the articles herein describe and review cutting edge research in this area to help facilitate a more sustainable future.
