Heritage and Festivals in Europe critically investigates the purpose, reach and effects of heritage festivals. Providing a comprehensive and detailed analysis of comparatively selected aspects of intangible cultural heritage, the volume demonstrates how such heritage is mobilised within events that have specific agency, particularly in the production and consumption of intrinsic and instrumental benefits for tourists, local communities and performers. Bringing together experts from a wide range of disciplines, the volume presents case studies from across Europe that consider many different varieties of heritage festivals. Focusing primarily on the popular and institutional practices of heritage making, the book addresses the gap between discourses of heritage at an official level and cultural practice at the local and regional level. Contributors to the volume also study the different factors influencing the sustainable development of tradition as part of intangible cultural heritage at the micro- and meso-levels, and examine underlying structures that are common across different countries. Heritage and Festivals in Europe takes a multidisciplinary approach and as such, should be of interest to scholars and students in the fields of heritage studies, tourism, performing arts, cultural studies and identity studies. Policymakers and practitioners throughout Europe should also find much to interest them within the pages of this volume.

This work presents novel simulation techniques for injection molding of fiber reinforced polymers. These include approaches for anisotropic flow modeling, hydrodynamic forces from fluid on fibers, contact forces between fibers, a novel fiber breakage modeling approach and anisotropic warpage analysis. Due to the coupling of fiber breakage and anisotropic flow modeling, the fiber breakage directly influences the modeled cavity pressure, which is validated with experimental data.

This book re-examines the origins of modern Mongolian nationalism, discussing nation building as sponsored by the socialist Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party and the Soviet Union and emphasizing in particular the role of the arts and the humanities. It considers the politics and society of the early revolutionary period and assesses the ways in which ideas about nationhood were constructed in a response to Soviet socialism. It goes on to analyze the consequences of socialist cultural and social transformations on pastoral, Kazakh, and other identities and outlines the implications of socialist nation building on post-socialist Mongolian national identity. Overall, Socialist and Post-Socialist Mongolia highlights how Mongolia’s population of widely scattered seminomadic pastoralists posed challenges for socialist administrators attempting to create a homogenous mass nation of individual citizens who share a set of cultural beliefs, historical memories, collective symbols, and civic ideas; additionally, the book addresses the changes brought more recently by democratic governance.

The aim of the research is a change in research competency of participants, getting methodology knowledge, ability of using it in practise and reflection on their own experiences in education of people with disabilities. Using autobiography elements authors reveal their reflections on education experiences. Working on the article allowed authors to change their approach to scientific research, getting to know autoethnographic method and a change in perception of the described social reality. All article’s authors are researchers, as well as the ones who were examined.

Nilze Maria de Azeredo Reguera tenta decifrar criticamente uma das obras mais densas e radicais da escritora paulista Hilda Hilst, os cinco textos em prosa reunidos no livro Fluxo-floema, publicado pela primeira vez em 1970. A autora parte do princípio de que o livro delineia um movimento de oscilação da artista, que tanto colocaria em cena quanto a problematizaria a tradição modernista de que ela foi herdeira, por meio de um questionamento implacável das utopias e do lugar que supostamente caberia ao artista ocupar no final do século 20, em um contexto de opressão. A leitura de cada um dos cinco textos de Fluxo-floema é feita a partir da observação atenta dos procedimentos técnicos empregados por Hilst, sobretudo o de alegorização, em uma abordagem que vai paulatinamente desmontando e reorganizando os textos, nos quais a linguagem é levada ao paroxismo da expressão inclusive a fim de celebrar ritualmente a multiplicidade espiritual e sensorial do ser humano. A pesquisadora também procura situar os cinco textos dentro do conjunto da produção hilstiana, já que Fluxo-floema é um livro que dialogaria com várias outras obras da escritora. Dessa forma, Reguera obtém significados inusitados e atuais tanto do livro em questão quanto de outros trabalhos de Hilst.

Das Verhältnis von Theologie und Jurisprudenz im iberischen 16. Jahrhundert zeichnet sich durch einen Wandel im Verhältnis zu den vorausgehenden drei Jahrhunderten aus.Während seit dem Hochmittelalter von einer starken Juridifizierung der Kirchenverwaltung, der Moraltheologie und selbst des Erlösungsglaubens gesprochen werden kann, ergibt sich im 16. Jahrhundert eine Akzentverschiebung. Zeitgleich mit der Entdeckung neuer Kulturen, dem Beginn dauerhafter konfessioneller Streitigkeiten und einer die Fesseln des Feudalsystems sprengenden Wirtschaftsentwicklung erlebt die Moraltheologie des 16. Jahrhunderts eine Renaissance der Summa Theologiae des Thomas von Aquin. Ein vom Willen Gottes getrennt denkbares Naturrecht wird als durch Vernunft erkennbar und begründbar behauptet.Seelmann zeigt in seinem hier publizierten Vortrag, wie Juristen der Zeit diese Entwicklung rezipierten, aber ebenso von der scotistischen Tradition einer den Willen Gottes über die Vernunft stellenden Trennung von Faktizität und Normativität beeinflußt wurden. Aus dieser Kombination entstand ein stark subjektiviertes und über diese Subjektivierung systematisierbares Naturrecht.

The enhancement of autonomy in language education relies heavily on teachers` empowerment and agency as critical intellectuals and reflective practitioners. However, most teacher education programmes are still based on instrumental views of teacher development that undervalue professional experience and expertise. The authors set the ground for alternative practices by proposing and illustrating a case-based approach to language teacher education that values experiential professional learning and expands competences to promote autonomy in school.

Pieces of the Vanuatu Puzzle presents the results of the most intensive and widespread archaeological investigations in Vanuatu for more than 30 years. For the first time the results of extensive excavations carried out on three islands in the archipelago are published. The sites span from the period of initial Lapita settlement through to later cultural transformations. The research has brought greater clarity to the early history of the Vanuatu archipelago and has wider implications for the region in general particularly in terms of how processes of cultural change are explained. It is an essential reference work both for those archaeologists working in the western Pacific but also for those who deal with material culture generally and pottery more specifically.

Developing independence as a learner is necessary for becoming a lifelong learner in an increasingly changing world. However, an individual without a community and socially shared learning processes is not an ideal for learning the skills for cooperation, creativity, or solving common problems. This book introduces the readers the perspective of identity development to learning processes, and particularly the questions of learning information literacy. The revised national school curriculum 2014 in Finland (implemented from Fall term 2016) emphasizes developing the students’ metaskills for learning. These metaskills can be described as aptitudes and skills for independent knowledge acquisition, problem-solving and creative thinking. This will act as a framework for the book. The contents includes discussion on the concepts of identity and information literacy, and their central role in becoming an independent learner willing to share and learn from others. The book also discusses enhancing the identity development processes and reaching the skilled levels of information literacy. The book is intended for teachers interested in developing pedagogical practices. It will also help pedagogically thinking information professional to develop their instruction and information training. The ideas and frameworks introduced in the book will also be useful for students in education, informatics and other areas which explore issues of identity development and information literacy.

Selected papers from the annual conference of the Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials

In the school year 2017/18, about 317,000 students with ascertained “special educational needs” have been taught in “special schools” (german: “Sonderschule” or “Förderschule”) in Germany. These special schools are still the place of study for about 6 of 10 of all students with special educational needs. Despite these high numbers of students, the actual organizational conditions at the special schools are hardly in the focus of special pedagogical research. The content of this thesis, therefore, is to elaborate on the development of the special education system with regard to its real organizational conditions in the light of national educational policy recommendations (Western Germany). On the one hand the database consists of publications by national actors in the school system, in particular the KMK (Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder) and the special education association VDS (today’s name: Verband Sonderpädagogik e.V.), and on the other hand it consists of the official school statistics data of the Federal Statistical Office and the statistical offices of the Länder as well as the statistics on special education of the KMK. The educational policy recommendations are being compared to the real development. This is done for each defined individual main area of support. Thus, special-purpose research is added to the existing pedagogic research. The research is supplemented by further analyses, such as the proportion of boarding schools or the importance of private schools. Finally, extensions to the statistical database will be developed in order to more specifically illustrate the learning conditions at special schools. Further, reference is also made to statistical needs for the future mapping of the inclusive special educational support.

The developed methodology provides an approach for integrating the customer into the processes of product-service-system providers. In addition to the differentiation from the competition, it also enables an increase in sales and profit margin.
