It truly would be a mistake to associate Domenico Rea with the critical cliché of the "rediscovered writer." Important bibliographic "clues" (works by and about Rea, have been consistently published in recent decades), which would inevitably direct us towards the mammoth 'proof' of the Meridiano, edited by the late Francesco Durante in 2005. Specific names need not be mentioned here, as they are mostly indicated and discussed in the essays in this volume. Instead, it is important to highlight the corollary derived from this preliminary evidence. If this is the case, if Rea's writing has continued to be read and discussed in different forms and ways over the years, then the question is not so much one of, so as to say - give Rea what is Rea's. Rather, the problem becomes one of verifying the methods, timing, and critical formulas of this continuity. In other words, a reflection on the production of the Neapolitan writer - and setting the ambitious goal of being 'wide-ranging' - must bring to light unfounded spaces, unpublished and rare materials so as to reconstruct friendships and intellectual relationships, to reason as to the longevity of his work and its internal relationships. In recent years, the activities of the 'National Committee for the celebrations of the centenary of his birth', established by Ministerial Decree 220, 17 June 2021, and chaired by Pasquale Sabbatino, have focused on these objectives. Starting from the opening conference "Domenico Rea and Italian Twentieth Century" (Naples, November 9-11, 2021), the proceedings of which are published here, an attempt has been made to transform this centenary into a broader "critical occasion".

Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors - New Insights and Recent Progress explores a vast array of subjects related to immune checkpoint inhibitors and presents novel insights in this emerging field. Chapters address such topics as mechanistic approaches of emerging immune checkpoint inhibitors, their role in clinical and pre-clinical trials, the manipulation of the system by immune-related adverse events that hinder the utility of these immune molecules, and the predictive and prognostic aspects of these molecules as biomarkers of response in immunotherapy. The book is useful for students, clinicians, and scientists to gain updated information on managing patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors.

This edited volume reveals how the journey of transformation at the University of the Free State (UFS) became interwoven with student leadership development and global learning. The UFS initiated two intersecting co-curricular programmes, namely, the First-Year Leadership for Change (F1L4C) programme in 2010; and the triennial Global Leadership Summit (GLS) in 2012. Although these programmes changed over time, their core focus remained to be the development of transformational student leaders through the creation of global learning spaces. From its inception in 2010 to the last GLS in 2018, the UFS global learning project involved 780 students and 259 staff members from 109 institutions, across four continents. The goal of this edited volume is to create a deeper understanding of how the UFS F1L4C and GLS programmes enhanced student leadership development through global learning, especially in the context of higher education transformation.

This collective work is a tribute to Franck Neveu, a leading expert and professor of language sciences, whose original thinking and extensive academic contribution will have a lasting impact on research in linguistics. In linguistics and/or in language sciences, because this is an old and constantly recurring debate. Franck Neveu resolutely pronounced himself in favour of the latter, although he positioned himself, equally resolutely, as a linguist. This collective volume pays tribute to this open-mindedness by bringing together contributions from renowned authors close to the dedicatee, who explore not only his areas of specialisation such as syntax, semantics and the epistemology of language sciences, but also neighbouring disciplines such as dialectology or text genetics. It has the work of Franck Neveu as its unifying theme and is intended to promote French linguistics, which he champions and illustrates. Thanks to its contributions which represent current research, this book will be of interest to both a specialist audience and one that is keen to learn about language sciences.

The European Convention on Human Rights is now crucial to decisions to be taken by the military and their political leaders in ‘hard power’ situations – that is, classical international and non-international armed conflict, belligerent occupation, peacekeeping and peace-enforcing and anti-terrorism and anti-piracy operations, but also hybrid warfare, cyber-attack and targeted assassination. Guidance is needed, therefore, on how Convention law relates to these decisions. That guidance is precisely what this book aims to offer. It focuses primarily on States’ accountability under the Convention, but also shows that human rights law, used creatively, can actually help States achieve their objectives.

In 1587, Abū al-Faz̤l ibn Mubārak – a favourite at the Mughal court and author of the Akbarnāmah – completed his Preface to the Persian translation of the Mahābhārata. This book is the first detailed study of Abū al-Faz̤l's Preface. It offers insights into manuscript practices at the Mughal court, the role a Persian version of the Mahābhārata was meant to play, and the religious interactions that characterised 16th-century India.

Drought and climate change have decreased water availability for agriculture in arid and semiarid regions, and therefore efficiency enhancements in irrigation water management aimed at conserving water are key to adjust to limits in water supply, as well as improve the profitability and sustainability of agricultural production. Agricultural water management tools and practices that reduce water uses with acceptable impacts on crop production are viable strategies required to cope with diminished water supplies and generate new sources of irrigation water. This Special Issue focuses on “Agricultural Water Conservation: Tools, Strategies, and Practices”, which aims to bring together a collection of recent cutting-edge research and advancements in applied agricultural water conservation. It provides a broad overview focusing on irrigation decision support systems, drought management plans, deficit irrigation strategies, soil mulching, surface and subsurface drip irrigation, conservation tillage, and optimal water and fertilizer management practices.

There have been numerous excellent books on LIBs based on various different viewpoints. But, there is little book available on the state of the art and future of next generation LIBs, particularly eventually for EVs and HEVs. This book is therefore planned to show the readers where we are standing on and where our R&Ds are directing at as much as possible. This does not mean that this book is only for the experts in this field. On the contrary this book is expected to be a good textbook for undergraduates and postgraduates who get interested in this field and hence need general overviews on the LIBs, especially for heavy duty applications including EVs or HEVs.

In many domestic and industrial processes, vast percentages of primary energy are produced by the combustion of fossil fuels. Apart from diminishing the source of fossil fuels and the increasing risk of higher costs and energy security, the impact on the environment is worsening continually. Renewables are becoming very popular, but are, at present, more expensive than fossil fuels, especially photovoltaics and hydropower. Biomass is one of the most established and common sources of fuel known to mankind, and has been in continuous use for domestic heating and cooking over the years, especially in poorer communities. The use of biomass to produce electricity is interesting and is gaining ground. There are several ways to produce electricity from biomass. Steam and gas turbine technology is well established but requires temperatures in excess of 250 °C to work effectively. The organic Rankine cycle (ORC), where low-boiling-point organic solutions can be used to tailor the appropriate solution, is particularly successful for relatively low temperature heat sources, such as waste heat from coal, gas and biomass burners. Other relatively recent technologies have become more visible, such as the Stirling engine and thermo-electric generators are particularly useful for small power production. However, the uptake of renewables in general, and biomass in particular, is still considered somewhat risky due to the lack of best practice examples to demonstrate how efficient the technology is today. Hence, the call for this Special Issue, focusing on country files, so that different nations’ experiences can be shared and best practices can be published, is warranted. This is realistic, as it seems that some nations have different attitudes to biomass, perhaps due to resource availability, or the technology needed to utilize biomass. Therefore, I suggest that we go forward with this theme, and encourage scientists and engineers who are researching in this field to present case studies related to different countries. I certainly have one case study for the UK to present.

Information flow control (IFC) is a technique to assert the security of a given program with respect to a given security policy. The classical policy noninterference requires that public output of a program may not be influenced from secret input. This work leverages a technique called program slicing, which is closely connected to IFC and offers many dimensions for improving analysis precision, the most powerful are Path Conditions. Our evaluation shows scalability with a low annotation burden.
