This Finnish EPPO/OLAF volume provides comprehensive information for the EPPO/OLAF sector, including case law, legal sources, and relevant organizations. It also summarises the national legislation relating to Finnish EPPO investigations, with a focus on the criminal investigation procedure. The last section deals with investigative missions in connection with OLAF investigations in Finland. Prof Dr Raimo Lahti has acted as the publication’s national expert. While written in English, the volume includes footnotes that reproduce the original Finnish legislation. Easily navigable with the help of visual symbols, it is designed as a quick reference tool for academics, students, practitioners and other interested readers.

Germany has had a profound influence on English stories for children. The Brothers Grimm, The Swiss Family Robinson and Johanna Spyri’s Heidi quickly became classics but, as David Blamires clearly articulates in this volume, many other works have been fundamental in the development of English children’s stories during the 19th century and beyond. Telling Tales is the first comprehensive study of the impact of Germany on English children’s books, covering the period from 1780 to the First World War. Beginning with The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, moving through the classics and including many other collections of fairytales and legends, it covers a wealth of translated and adapted material.

Carbon fiber is an oft-referenced material that serves as a means to remove mass from large transport infrastructure. Carbon fiber composites, typically plastics reinforced with the carbon fibers, are key materials in the 21st century and have already had a significant impact on reducing CO2 emissions. Though, as with any composite material, the interface where each component meets, in this case the fiber and plastic, is critical to the overall performance.

"In Tennyson’s Poems: New Textual Parallels, R. H. Winnick identifies more than a thousand previously unknown instances in which Tennyson phrases of two or three to as many as several words are similar or identical to those occurring in prior works by other hands—discoveries aided by the proliferation of digitized texts and the related development of powerful search tools over the three decades since the most recent major edition of Tennyson’s poems was published. Each of these instances may be deemed an allusion (meant to be recognized as such and pointing, for definable purposes, to a particular antecedent text), an echo (conscious or not, deliberate or not, meant to be noticed or not, meaningful or not), or merely accidental. Unless accidental, Winnick writes, these new textual parallels significantly expand our knowledge both of Tennyson’s reading and of his thematic intentions and artistic technique. Coupled with the thousand-plus textual parallels previously reported by Christopher Ricks and other scholars, he says, they suggest that a fundamental and lifelong aspect of Tennyson’s art was his habit of echoing any work, ancient or modern, which had the potential to enhance the resonance or deepen the meaning of his poems. The new textual parallels Winnick has identified point most often to the King James Bible and to such canonical authors as Shakespeare, Milton, Dryden, Pope, Thomson, Cowper, Shelley, Byron, and Wordsworth. But they also point to many authors rarely if ever previously cited in Tennyson editions and studies, including Michael Drayton, Richard Blackmore, Isaac Watts, Erasmus Darwin, John Ogilvie, Anna Lætitia Barbauld, Letitia Elizabeth Landon, John Wilson, and—with surprising frequency—Felicia Hemans. Tennyson’s Poems: New Textual Parallels is thus a major new resource for Tennyson scholars and students, an indispensable adjunct to the 1987 edition of Tennyson’s complete poems edited by Christopher Ricks. The organizational requirements for an error-free and effective care of patients within a large-scale hospital are high: despite all efforts to improve the process quality and the establishment of risk management systems and reporting systems, there exists the general impression that the processes and communicative challenges are still – in particular with regard to the grown influence of economic factor – prone to error: in case of doubt to the harm of the patients. The topic, which has a medical and organizational sociological, an economic and not least a (criminal-)legal dimension, was the subject of the traditional annual meeting of the Göttingen Institute for Criminal Science in July 2016.

In a world where physical labour seems to disappear from dominant public narratives, Embodied Labour offers an in-depth, interdisciplinary analysis of the bodily experiences of work and their significance as elements of European cultural heritage. This collection examines the physical dimension of labour across various European locations – from Estonian oil shale mines, through Norwegian ironworks, to State Agricultural Farms in Poland. Together, the chapters explore how the rhythms of physical labour shaped landscapes, identities, and communities, whilst also addressing issues of representation in museums, literature, and art, and the challenges of conveying bodily experiences to contemporary audiences. The authors challenge linear narratives about the development of work, showing that physical labour has not disappeared but rather changed its character – becoming less visible, more fragmented, and marginalised in public narratives. The volume restores dignity and significance to these experiences, treating the working body not merely as a tool of production but also as a carrier of memory, identity, and knowledge. Embodied Labour is of interest to students and scholars from various disciplines – from history and anthropology, through heritage studies, to philosophy – as well as anyone interested in the cultural, social, and historical dimensions of labour in Europe. Revisioning Europe is among the few existing English-language discussions of the films made by British novelist John Berger and Swiss film director Alain Tanner. It brings to light a political cinema that was unsentimental about the possibilities of revolutionary struggle and unsparing in its critique of the European left, and at the same time optimistic about the ability of radicalism - and radical art - to transform the world. Jerry White argues that Berger and Tanners work is preoccupied with ideas that were both central to the Enlightenment and at the same time characteristically Swiss. Translations of previously unpublished essays by both John Berger and Alain Tanner are included as appendices.

With the growing interest in electrical machines in recent times, the multiphase machine field has developed into a fascinating research area. Their intrinsic features (power splitting, better fault tolerance, or lower torque ripple) make them an appealing competitor to conventional three-phase machines. Multiphase electric drives have been recently used in applications where fault tolerance and continuous operation of the drive are required. However, the difficulties in extending the three-phase conventional current regulation and control structure to multiphase systems still limit their broad applicability in industry solutions. The main objective of this book is to illustrate new advances, developments, and applications in the field of multiphase machines and drives, while exposing these advances, developments, and applications to the scientific community and industry.

The article focuses on Luigi Pirandello’s Italian translation of Goethe’s Römische Elegien (1896, Livorno: Giusti). It presents the previous Italian translators and reviews how Pirandello’s version was received by his contemporaries. Its reception is examined through the writings of three reviewers (Tommaso Gnoli, Luigi Parpagliolo and R. – probably Ruggiero Bonghi), who demonstrate that the translation was favourably received in the Roman cultural environment close to Pirandello. The article then highlight the features that his contemporaries found most innovative and impressive impressive in Pirandello's translation.

The 14 essays in this volume explore the relationship between philosophy and religion from antiquity to the contemporary age, as well as the development of a philosophy of religion in modern times. It does so by focusing on the topics of atheism, the nature of Christ, and the Cartesian origins of rational theology, on the one hand, and on the contemporary ramifications of philosophy of religion: in hermeneutics, phenomenology, and historical materialism, on the other.
