The development objective of Water Security and Sector Performance Program for Barbados is to enhance water security, pollution management, and the performance of water services for selected Caribbean nations. The PforR instrument is appropriate to support the GoB with robust BWA performance improvement, in line. The Program supports the three Results Area (RAs). RA 1 – Building BWA capacity for well-performing service delivery, aligned with the MPA’s Pillar 2 – Utility Performance and Service Delivery, supports the modernization of BWA’s operations and its capacity to deliver efficient services, and is expected to improve BWA’s financial sustainability and creditworthiness. RA 2 – Pollution management through country-wide safely managed sanitation services, aligned with MPA Pillar 3 – Pollution management through safely managed sanitation services, supports reduction in pollution reaching the ocean and aquifers by incentivizing improvements in safely collected, treated and managed sanitation services, including installation of sewerage connections with lower-cost technologies. RA 3 – Foundations for long-term water security, aligned with MPA Pillar 4 – Foundations for long-term water security, disaster response and resilience supports improvements in the GoB’s capacity to manage its water resources sustainably and adapt to climate variability.
