250 anos da fundação da Imprensa da Universidade de Coimbra

Overview & Synopsis

During 2022, the University of Coimbra promoted a wide-ranging program of activities to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Pombaline Reform of the University of Coimbra (UC). The celebrations naturally had a national and even international dimension, because the Pombaline Reform, which directly affected the UC, had a broader scope, as it profoundly marked the conceptual vision of the nature and mission of the Portuguese University as a whole. On November 28, 2022, the General Library of the University of Coimbra (BGUC), in the Sala de São Pedro, hosted a Colloquium and an Exhibition on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the University of Coimbra Press (IUC), as part of the celebrations of the Pombaline Reform of the University. The book now being published brings together the texts of the colloquium presentations and reproduces the bibliographic exhibition catalogue.
