Cashew industry has emerged as one of the potential enterprises in accelerating the economic growth of the country. Tamil Nadu ranks sixth in the production of cashew. In order to meet the challenge, the rate of growth of production should be accelerated by adopting intensive development strategies by bringing more areas under cashew and replacing senile plantation with clones of high yielding varieties and also intensive transfer of technology programmes.
