Las perforaciones sobre asta (cervus elaphus) en el Paleolítico Superior.
Overview & Synopsis
We cannot define the exact moment when the drill started to be used in the Palaeolithic. Perforationshave been carried out in a multitude of supports and raw materials and showed different shapes(circular, oval, square), mainly due to different techniques employed. Perforations are frequent in theUpper Palaeolithic, although they are also attested in Middle Palaeolithic. In this paper, we presentan experimentation carried out with different drilling lithic tools and techniques to perforate a deerantler (Cervus elaphus), to study needles, spears and perforated batons. Also, we will show the resultsof this experimentation by compared the results with objects/tools recovered archaeologically way.
