Untitled Feminist Show: Nudity as Fluidity
Overview & Synopsis
Young Jean Lee’s Untitled Feminist Show (2012) features six performers who engage with the audience through movement, energy and emotion, without the help/hindrance of clothes, props, makeup—or indeed, words. Relying on investigations of identity in feminist art and on Agamben’s philosophy of nudity, this essay explores the gleeful aesthetics of the show and its politics of fluidity, in order to define Lee’s original treatment of pure and empowering embodiment.
