Genomic and Biotechnological Investigations of Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi): Unlocking Therapeutic Genes and Metabolic Pathways for Future Drug Development
Overview & Synopsis
Ocimum sanctum, known as Tulsi, is a cornerstone of traditional Indian medicine. In recent years, genomics and biotechnology have provided powerful tools to investigate its therapeutic potential atthe molecular level. This study explores the genomic architecture, gene expression patterns, andmetabolite biosynthesis pathways in Tulsi. Using transcriptomic analysis, molecular docking, andCRISPR-based metabolic engineering perspectives, we present a comprehensive analysis of keytherapeutic compounds and their biosynthetic gene clusters. The research aims to facilitate thedevelopment of optimized cultivars and bioengineered compounds for pharmaceutical use.
