LASER OPTOTHERMAL DETECTION OF ABSORPTION IN GAS FLOWS
Overview & Synopsis
A new method of detection of weak absorption in gas flows is considered. It is based on probing the flow by transverse laser radiation with subsequent measurement of local temperature variations with a thermal transducer placed across the flow. The advantage of this method is a high spatial resolution (up to 0.1 mm) at sufficienly high threshold sensitivity (~ 10-7 cm-1). The results of tentative studies of this method and estimations of its applicability in gas chromatography are given.
