Quantitative correlation between MRS and fluorescence from NADH phantoms to cellular systems
Overview & Synopsis
Different medical conditions, such as glioblastoma, epilepsy, and cerebral pathologies, exhibit significant metabolic alterations. The treatment of many of these conditions often involves neurosurgical intervention, including the resection of the lesion. By tracking cellular energy metabolism, it can be easier to delineate the lesion and assist the neurosurgeon in the operating room. Preoperative and intraoperative tracking methods can be used for this purpose, and the biomarkers differ depending on the method. In this work, we discuss creating the pre/intraoperative bimodal system of measurements through combining fluorescence spectroscopy with Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) and making simultaneous measurements.
