Convert Acoustic Resonances to Orbital Angular Momentum
Overview & Synopsis
We use acoustic resonances in a planar structure to convert orbital angular momentum (OAM) into an axisymmetric sound field. The resonances twist wave vector to produce the OAM needed spiral phase. We numerically and theoretically model and experimentally achieve the production for a Bessel-shaped vortex beam. Our acoustic resonance based OAM production differs from previous OAM production by wave fields of phased spiral sources or physical spiral dimensions. Our work hence opens up the capability of producing phase dislocated wave fields to carry OAM.
