Media executives
Overview & Synopsis
While French sociology has produced a prolific literature on economic, political, state, intellectual and artistic elites, press owners have been largely ignored. This book sets out to go beyond personification and anecdote, to identify internal and external logics, shed light on the different facets of this population, and highlight the workings of their selection. How is a national media executive made in France? What is the process involved? What resources and capital are valued? What power relations do they reveal between segments of the elite?
