Overview & Synopsis

Zenobia is a fortified city located 60 km north of Deir Ezzor. According to Procopius of Cesarea, it was founded by Zenobia herself, the « queen » of Palmyra in the 4 th quarter of the 3 rd century AD, (although no other source confirms this fact) and rebuilt by the byzantine emperor Justinian (525-567 AD).
