Competenze scrittorie e dinamiche sociolinguistiche: problemi e metodi

This volume brings together the reflections sparked by the symposium “Methodological Issues in the Analysis of Writing Competence and Sociolinguistic Dynamics,” held as part of the PRIN project "Writing Expertise as a Dynamic Sociolinguistic Force: The Emergence and Development of Italian Communities of Discourse in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages and Their Impact on Languages and Societies". The essays collected here provide a closer examination of the theoretical concepts of communities of practice, textual communities, and communities of discourse, as well as their applicability to the specific contexts of analysis—namely, Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages. This volume aims to present the outcome of a collective discussion that emerged within the project, thanks to which it was possible to compare, within a common framework, theoretical reflections and methodological proposals used in the study of realities that are, in some cases, quite distant from one another.
