Overview & Synopsis
This volume brings together nine studies on statues of divinities in the Roman Mediterranean, considering them as historical products characterised by the plasticity and dynamism of their forms and meanings. Visual languages, iconographic elements, spatial conceptions, modes of behaviour, actions and performance that created the divine, as well as intellectual constructs, narratives and knowledge that made divine beings present are issues that make up this collection of contributions by an interdisciplinary and international team.
