First Nationalism Then Identity focuses on the case of Bosnian Muslims, a rare historic instance of a new nation emerging. Although for Bosnian Muslims the process of national emergence and the assertion of a new salient identity have been going on for over two decades, Mirsad Kriještorac is the first to explain the significance of the whole process and how the adoption of their new Bosniak identity occurred. He provides a historical overview of Yugoslav and Bosnian Slavic Muslims’ transformation into a full-fledged distinct and independent national group as well as addresses the important question in the field of nationalism studies about the relationship between and workings of nationalism and identity. While this book is noteworthy for ordinary readers interested in the case of Bosnian Muslims, it is an important contribution to the scholarly debate on the role of nationalism in the political life of a group and adds an interdisciplinary perspective to comparative politics scholarship by drawing from anthropology, history, geography, and sociology.

In Hindu Pluralism, Elaine M. Fisher complicates the traditional scholarly narrative of the unification of Hinduism. By calling into question the colonial categories implicit in the term “sectarianism,” Fisher’s work excavates the pluralistic textures of precolonial Hinduism in the centuries prior to British intervention. Drawing on previously unpublished sources in Sanskrit, Tamil, and Telugu, Fisher argues that the performance of plural religious identities in public space in Indian early modernity paved the way for the emergence of a distinctively non-Western form of religious pluralism. This work provides a critical resource for understanding how Hinduism developed in the early modern period, a crucial era that set the tenor for religion’s role in public life in India through the present day. “A detailed, insightful, and original perspective on a significant and understudied period. It engages intelligently with current discussions of early modern Indian intellectual and religious history, while calling into question key elements of the existing picture of the period among specialists in the field.” -LAWRENCE McCREA, Cornell University “Fisher works at both a micro and macro level to read the intricacies of Smarta Saivism against the broader backdrop of evolving definitions of Hinduism. Her counterintuitive thesis is that sectarianism is not so much a breakup of a preexisting unity but rather an aggregation of discrete religions.” -GAURI VISWANATHAN, Columbia University “Fisher’s work is critical now more than ever in helping us to understand what Hinduism is and how it began to be that way, not in misty antiquity but in early modernity.” -ROBERT P. GOLDMAN, University of California at Berkeley ELAINE M. FISHER is Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Stanford University.

As the global demand for animal-derived food continues to rise, the feed industry is under increasing pressure to provide nutritional solutions that are high-performance, sustainable and safe. Animal Feeds and Additives brings together cutting-edge research and practical insights to address the complex challenges and emerging opportunities shaping modern animal nutrition. This comprehensive volume begins with an in-depth analysis of the current state of the global feed and feed additives industries, as well as their future objectives and strategies. It highlights the key drivers of innovation, ranging from climate change and resource constraints to shifts in consumer expectations and regulatory landscapes. The chapter on using food waste in animal nutrition focuses on sustainability, exploring novel approaches to resource recovery and circular feeding systems. This section demonstrates how rethinking waste can reduce environmental impact while maintaining feed quality and safety. The book also examines the controversial topic of antibiotics in animal feed, presenting a balanced view of their historical benefits and the growing concerns surrounding antimicrobial resistance. This discussion provides context for the industry's ongoing transition towards alternative, health-promoting strategies. Supporting precision nutrition and environmentally responsible livestock production, the chapter on feed additives for ruminants examines how targeted supplements can enhance productivity, reduce methane emissions, and improve overall animal health and welfare. Finally, a review of the effects of spray-dried plasma on broiler chickens sheds light on the role of this promising additive in boosting growth performance, gut health, and immune response. Designed for animal nutritionists, feed manufacturers, researchers and students, Animal Feeds and Additives is a valuable guide to the evolving science and strategies behind efficient, ethical and sustainable animal production.

This book examines how different agents and institutions within the Danish nation state have situated themselves within this complex landscape of competing appropriations of classical antiquity from the eighteenth century to the present day. In particular, it focuses on the use of classical heritages to construct both European and national identities (in the plural) and especially on how Danes in this period have engaged with a sense of European commonality through their engagements with the classical past

A critical examination of efforts by social media companies—including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram—to rein in cyberbullying by young users. High-profile cyberbullying cases often trigger exaggerated public concern about children's use of social media. Large companies like Facebook respond by pointing to their existing anti-bullying mechanisms or coordinate with nongovernmental organizations to organize anti-cyberbullying efforts. Do these attempts at self-regulation work? In this book, Tijana Milosevic examines the effectiveness of efforts by social media companies—including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, and Instagram—to rein in cyberbullying by young users. Milosevic analyzes the anti-bullying policies of fourteen major social media companies, as recorded in companies' corporate documents, draws on interviews with company representatives and e-safety experts, and details the roles of nongovernmental organizations examining their ability to provide critical independent advice. She draws attention to lack of transparency in how companies handle bullying cases, emphasizing the need for a continuous independent evaluation of effectiveness of companies' mechanisms, especially from children's perspective. Milosevic argues that cyberbullying should be viewed in the context of children's rights and as part of the larger social problem of the culture of humiliation. Milosevic looks into five digital bullying cases related to suicides, examining the pressures on the social media companies involved, the nature of the public discussion, and subsequent government regulation that did not necessarily address the problem in a way that benefits children. She emphasizes the need not only for protection but also for participation and empowerment—for finding a way to protect the vulnerable while ensuring the child's right to participate in digital spaces.

The book addresses the current challenges faced by financial consumers in the context of enormous technological developments. This edited collection covers safeguarding financial consumers, encompassing topics such as financial inclusion, data protection, and consumer over-indebtedness. Addressing specific issues related to vulnerable consumer groups and the increasing digitisation of financial services, it grapples with the emerging challenge demanding that consumers possess technological literacy. The book offers a distinct new perspective, going beyond the traditional understanding of financial inclusion, which typically only considers the possession of a bank account. Instead, it explores new dimensions, including the obstacles consumers face in obtaining credit, establishing a credit history, and coping with issues such as being blacklisted. The book explores diverse strategies for enhancing financial inclusion, such as leveraging data, and open banking. It also scrutinises the pursuit of credit fairness and examines methods to either mitigate or effectively address over-indebtedness, a persistent and formidable challenge for financial consumers. The book will be of interest to researchers, practitioners, and governmental organisations in the field of finance law and the law of emerging technologies.

Giorgio Caproni is certainly among the most loved Italian poets of the 20th century. Anna Dolfi used this widespread passion to involve not only well-known scholars of Caproni, but also young researchers, in new research activities. This results in a considerably rich book which, together with an overall vision, offers a series of hermeneutical insights on themes which were not as frequently investigated until then (memory, bestiaries and so on), by combining new readings of exemplary texts with unpublished documents, with reflections on language and poetry, on musical, pictorial and mythical suggestions, never forgetting Caproni’s activity for translation, self-commentary and civic commitment. The book is functionally divided into Percorsi e attraversamenti, Letture (e immediati dintorni), Risultanze tra/dalle carte d’archivio, which enhances the diversity of the critical commentaries and the close comparisons, of the surveys and experiments of comment, of explication de texte, and highlights the great technical skill and the extreme lyrical depth of an author who, between cantability and dissonances, arpeggios and apostrophes, cabalettas and cadences, flourishes and delays, vocalizations and little verses, recoveries and leave, talkativeness and aphasia, was able to interpret the contradictory research, the questions, the fears, the faults and the incurable wounds of our time.

To date, there has been no comprehensive analysis of the disperse research on the squatters’ movement in Europe. In Squatters in the Capitalist City, Miguel A. Martínez López presents a critical review of the current research on squatting and of the historical development of the movements in European cities according to their major social, political and spatial dimensions. Comparing cities, contexts, and the achievements of the squatters’ movements, this book presents the view that squatting is not simply a set of isolated, illegal and marginal practices, but is a long-lasting urban and transnational movement with significant and broad implications. While intersecting with different housing struggles, squatters face various aspects of urban politics and enhance the content of the movements claiming for a ‘right to the city.’ Squatters in the Capitalist City seeks to understand both the socio-spatial and political conditions favourable to the emergence and development of squatting, and the nature of the interactions between squatters, authorities and property owners by discussing the trajectory, features and limitations of squatting as a potential radicalisation of urban democracy.
