Food safety is a matter of great significance for the global population. Therefore, researchers have been developing and validating analytical methods to extract, separate and quantitate a variety of hazardous and nutritional analytes in various food commodities. Due to the complexity of food components, a suitable pretreatment method is required to eliminate matrix effects and lower the detection limit. Afterward, chromatography and mass spectrometry are powerful tools in the guarantee of food safety and quality. This book is the reprint of a Special Issue of Separations, “Advances of Accurate Quantification Methods in Food Analysis”, and provides an overview of recent trends in food analytical methods. Both novel sample pretreatment and detection techniques are covered, with the aim of accurate quantification. This Special Issue received nine contributions that covered the latest analytical methods, and focused on pesticides, mycotoxin, antibiotics, metal ions, organic selenium and anthocyanins.

En s'imposant d'abord en 2006 sous une forme « fermée », puis dans un cadre résolument « ouvert » en 2011, la procédure des primaires n'a pas seulement désigné pour le PS une nouvelle profession de foi démocratique. En déplaçant près de 3 millions de sympathisants socialistes, elle a également inventé un système inédit de sélection des candidats qui irrigue désormais l'ensemble de la vie politique française. Longtemps considérées comme contraires à la culture politique hexagonale et à l'esprit des institutions de la Ve République, les primaires sont aujourd'hui érigées en modèle de participation par les partis politiques, d'EELV à LR. Ce sont les enseignements des recherches proposées par cet ouvrage : la machinerie partisane et l'ingénierie électorale qui donnent le visage des primaires représentent plus qu'une solution procédurale choisie par des formations politiques en crise de leadership. Elles résultent aussi de l'adaptation de la pratique américaine à la culture française d'un fait majoritaire fragilisé depuis 2002 par l'émergence de la tripartition de l'espace politique. Par la rapidité et l'ampleur de leur transposition, elles consacrent également une offre militante, une pratique civique, un rituel de légitimation, un défi logistique et une mise en récit de la vie partisane qui encadrent de manière nouvelle les façons d'élire et de se faire élire. Le choix des primaires ne saurait cependant se lire comme le simple résultat d'une adaptation mécanique d'un système d'investiture étranger. La perte du monopole de la désignation de leur candidat n'a été concédée par les élites et les adhérents de ces organisations qu'au prix de la conservation de la maîtrise des règles du jeu partisan. Les primaires constituent bien en cela un mode de régulation de la concurrence par-delà leur caractère démocratique. L'objectif de cet ouvrage collectif est de revenir sur les processus qui ont conduit à l'adoption – de la pression réformiste à la délégitimation des modes de sélection traditionnels –, à l'organisation du scrutin – de la dimension matérielle du vote aux impacts médiatiques de la campagne – et la diffusion de la procédure au niveau local – de la contagion mimétique aux limites des effets d'entraînement dans les territoires – de cette nouvelle technologie de désignation des candidats en France.

American ecopoetries of migration explore the conflicted relationships of mobile subjects to the nonhuman world and thus offer valuable environmental insight for our current age of mass mobility and global ecological crisis. In Ecopoetic Place-Making, Judith Rauscher analyzes the works of five contemporary American poets of migration, drawing from ecocriticism and mobility studies. The poets discussed in her study challenge exclusionary notions of place-attachment and engage in ecopoetic place-making from different perspectives of mobility, testifying to the potential of poetry as a means of conceptualizing alternative environmental imaginaries for our contemporary world on the move.

The role of images in spatial representation is a central theme; the topic is addressed here with a multidisciplinary perspective - urban and territorial planning, and visual communication design. These two disciplines interact to provide a novel representation of the city in a continuously evolving scenario, from traditional cartography to contemporary models of visual design. The book aims to reconstruct the methodological process of the research and present the scientific results in a conceptualization of the territory through spatial images that highlight morphological characteristics, articulation into parts and the relationships of connection among them.

La légende du roi Arthur est surtout connue à travers les romans français de la Table ronde. On ignore souvent qu'il existe des récits latins du xiiie siècle qui racontent quelques épisodes inédits de cette grande saga bretonne, inconnus des œuvres arthuriennes françaises ou étrangères. Le présent ouvrage en offre la première traduction intégrale en français accompagnée du texte original en latin. Dans l'un de ces récits (Arthur et Gorlagon), le roi Arthur rencontre un bien étrange loup garou. Dans un autre (La véritable histoire de la mort d'Arthur), il disparaît dans des circonstances mystérieuses à la fin de sa vie terrestre. L'histoire de son neveu (L'Enfance de Gauvain) est tout aussi surprenante : abandonné à sa naissance, il accomplit un singulier parcours héroïque avant de retrouver la cour d'Arthur, tout auréolé de gloire chevaleresque. Enfin, la tumultueuse Histoire de Mériadoc se développe en une véritable chronique légendaire aux rebondissements haletants. Le présent ouvrage vaudra au lecteur de multiples découvertes car ces récits ne sont pas des affabulations inventées au Moyen Âge. Ils remontent à une tradition orale bien plus ancienne : la vieille mythologie des Celtes insulaires (Irlande, Pays de Galles) qui offre de surprenantes analogies avec celle de l'ancienne Grèce ou avec les contes du folklore international.

Through parenting, adults raise their children and introduce them into the belonging community. Parents are active determinants of their children’s well-being, but children themselves are too. The volume focuses on some relevant theoretical issues related to children’s and adolescent adjustments, adult maternal and paternal behaviors, and their self-efficacy beliefs and competence interacting with children’s characteristics. The volume also presents evidence-based treatments involving parents as key components of the intervention strategies for childhood internalizing/externalizing disorders. Parent behaviors produce changes and consequences in the child’s emotive-behavioral adjustment; thus, a modification of the parenting style may be an effective way to help children and to ameliorate the family climate. Practitioners interested in parenting will find in the updated studies here reviewed new suggestions for preventive family interventions.

Neben der bekannten Holztafel- und Holzskelettbauweise entwickelten sich in den letzten Jahren verschiedene innovative Wandbausysteme aus Holz, von denen zwei im Rahmen dieser Arbeit hinsichtlich ihrer Eigenschaften unter Erdbeben untersucht wurden. In experimentellen Untersuchungen wurden einzelne Verbindungen und auch ganze Wandscheiben der Bauweisen untersucht. Das Verhalten von Verbindungen und Wandscheiben kann mit den erstellten numerischen Modellen berechnet werden.

Photovoltaics, among the different renewable energy sources (RES), has become more popular. In recent years, however, many research topics have arisen as a result of the problems that are constantly faced in smart-grid and microgrid operations, such as forecasting of the output of power plant production, storage sizing, modeling, and control optimization of photovoltaic systems. Computational intelligence algorithms (evolutionary optimization, neural networks, fuzzy logic, etc.) have become more and more popular as alternative approaches to conventional techniques for solving problems such as modeling, identification, optimization, availability prediction, forecasting, sizing, and control of stand-alone, grid-connected, and hybrid photovoltaic systems. This Special Issue will investigate the most recent developments and research on solar power systems. This Special Issue “Computational Intelligence in Photovoltaic Systems” is highly recommended for readers with an interest in the various aspects of solar power systems, and includes 10 original research papers covering relevant progress in the following (non-exhaustive) fields: Forecasting techniques (deterministic, stochastic, etc.); DC/AC converter control and maximum power point tracking techniques; Sizing and optimization of photovoltaic system components; Photovoltaics modeling and parameter estimation; Maintenance and reliability modeling; Decision processes for grid operators.

The question of what heritage is and how we deal with it is not a neutral one. Recent events such as the Black Lives Matter movement and the toppling of monuments have made evident how much the colonial past is inscribed in our built environment; at the same time, colonialism continues to affect memorialization and historiography. Hence, those involved in architectural history are challenged to re-consider their positionality. Whose heritage are colonial sites? Which possibly silenced memories are attached to them? How are archives and material evidence reassessed to bring forward the stories of marginalized subjects? Following the call for decolonization, this volume explores historical methodologies and shows the entanglement of narratives at architectural sites, bringing together archaeology, architectural history, and heritage studies.
