Welche Rolle spielen nichtstaatliche Akteure, sogenannte »Proxys«, in staatlichen Cyberkonflikten?

This innovative title is the first interdisciplinary volume to examine private equity investment in hospitality businesses through the lens of the socio-cultural concepts of affect and emotion. In particular, this book explores the social and relational nature of hospitality investing, uncovering how connections between bodies engaged in investment become both the site and source of affective and emotional impingements. Shining a light on the activity of equity investment into hospitality businesses, this title examines how entrepreneurs relinquish partial ownership to investor/s in return for funds, as well as the affective and emotional entanglements of hospitality investing and the implications in the decision-making of the activity. This work offers new social and relational understandings of equity investment in hospitality businesses and will be of pivotal interest to researchers, practitioners, and students from fields such as hospitality studies, finance and economics, management, cultural studies, and sociology. "In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century Dutch diplomats, scholars and travellers assembled unique collections in Jeddah, Mecca and Medina. The Dutch presence in Arabia, where they established a consulate in Jeddah, was intimately connected with the supervision of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca from the Netherlands East Indies, present-day Indonesia. Notable guests at this consulate included the formidable Dutch Islamicist Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje, visiting Arabia in 1884-1885. With the invaluable help of local Muslims, Dutch collectors tried to capture the essence of what they regarded as an ‘authentic’ Oriental culture in a period when Arabia was already looking towards modernity. These extensive collections are now preserved at the Leiden Museum of Ethnology and Leiden University Libaries. Together, they allow a glimpse into a colourful and vibrant society."

Structures and Processes“ vom 5.–8. September 2012 in Göttingen gehalten worden sind. Mit Beiträgen von Merle Fahrholz, Axel Fischer und Matthias Kornemann, Melanie von Goldbeck, Christine Hoppe, Martin Knust und Ingela Tägil, Marie Winkelmüller und Christhard Zimpel.

After Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, the Soviet secret police, the NKVD, executed a staggering number of political prisoners in Western Ukraine-somewhere between 10,000 and 40,000-in the space of eight days, in one of the greatest atrocities perpetrated by the Soviet state. Yet the Great West Ukrainian Prison Massacre of 1941 is largely unknown. This sourcebook aims to change that, offering detailed scholarly analysis, eyewitness testimonies and profiles of known victims, and a selection of fiction, memoirs, and poetry that testifies to the lasting impact of the massacre in the collective memory of Ukrainians.

Sienkiewicz’s Bodies focuses on the work of the most popular Polish writer from the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century. It discusses the surprising success of Sienkiewicz’s writing in relation to the dissection of optimistic illusion that takes place during a reading of its cruel prose. Sienkiewicz is seen as something more than a juggler of genius in narrative prose. This conservative writer, like the modernists, knew that there was no longer any way to construct a representation of reality in a morally non-contradictory fictional discourse. The energy of his narratives and his linguistic drive disturb the order of narrative and expose the heteronomy of a superficially unified style, thus generating fissures, but never ruining the architecture of the text.

This book is available as open access through the Bloomsbury Open Access programme and is available on www.bloomsburycollections.com. Open-space Learning offers a unique resource to educators wishing to develop a workshop model of teaching and learning. The authors propose an embodied, performative mode of learning that challenges the primacy of the lecture and seminar model in higher education. Drawing on the expertise of the CAPITAL Centre (Creativity and Performance in Teaching and Learning) at the University of Warwick, they show how pedagogic techniques developed from the theatrical rehearsal room may be applied effectively across a wide range of disciplines. The book offers rich case-study materials, supplemented by video and documentary resources, available to readers electronically. These practical elements are supplemented by a discursive strand, which draws on the methods of thinkers such as Freire, Vygotsky and Kolb, to develop a formal theory around the notion of Open-space Learning. CAPITAL was a collaboration between the University of Warwick's Department of English and the Royal Shakespeare Company. CAPITAL was succeeded by the Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning (IATL) in 2010.
