Abstract

Cybersecurity focuses on the threat prevention and risk management of digital data, as well as the protection of associated physical hardware and infrastructure. Cybersecurity is more a question of trusted partnerships, where everyone, from suppliers to manufacturers, from installers and integrators to end-users, has an important role to play. The process for analyzing risk in cyberspace is the same as for physical protection. Vulnerabilities provide opportunities for adversaries to attack or gain access to a system. Opportunistic attackers use readily available tools and often try to breach systems using methods that exploit weaknesses commonly associated with system entry. Security controls are safeguards or countermeasures employed to avoid, detect, counteract, or minimize security risks to physical property, information, computer systems, or other assets. Many manufacturers of network video products release recommendations on how to ensure that appropriate network security is deployed in a network video system.
