Guide for Integrating Environmental Education Concepts into Elementary, Secondary, and Post-Secondary Vocational, Technical and Adult Education. Final Draft.
Overview & Synopsis
In addition to producing manpower for jobs in environmental fields, students and teachers in all vocational education areas need development of an awareness, understanding, appreciation, and commitment to action in preventing and solving ecological problems as citizens in their communities. This is a guide for integrating environmental education concepts into appropriate elementary, secondary, post-secondary, vocational-technical, and adult education programs using the United States Office of Education (USOE) cluster concept as a framework. The guide covers areas such as accounting, agriculture, automotives, carpentry, drafting, home economics, horticulture, management, nursing, and social studies. The guide is divided into sections according to these subject areas. Each subject area is identified by division or grade level, discipline, subject matter, category, and rationale. Instructional objectives, recommended learning activities, classroom instructional materials, reference materials, and additional learning experiences are included for every different topic within the subject area. Appendixes dealing with the program are also included. (TK)
