Regional One Health Mapping of Professional Expertise : Regional Initiative on One Health in Eastern and Southern Africa
Overview & Synopsis
The Regional One Health Mapping workstream operationalized a One Health approach by consolidating multidisciplinary expertise across public, private, and academic sectors into a structured regional platform that strengthens collaboration, preparedness, and response at the human–animal–environment interface. The initiative established a LinkedIn-based Regional One Health Community of Practice, connecting over 2,000 professionals across health, environment, livestock, academia, and civil society, thereby enhancing visibility of expertise, knowledge exchange, and surge capacity during emerging health threats. Complementary outputs, including a regional conference, innovation marketplace, and joint call to action, further strengthened stakeholder mapping, institutional linkages, and coordination, positioning the mapping platform as enabling infrastructure for coordinated implementation of the SADC Regional One Health Roadmap (2026–2035).
