Overview & Synopsis
The Board of Executive Directors discussed the World Bank Group Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for Ethiopia for FY27 to FY36, welcoming its focus on private sector-led growth, productive employment, and resilience, recognizing the country’s potential and the Government’s macroeconomic reforms to spur private investment and expand access to finance, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and businesses owned by youth and women, and commending the CPF’s selectivity, coherence across four outcome areas, and emphasis on sustained engagement to advance macroeconomic stability, governance reforms, and capacity building for inclusive and sustainable opportunities across regions. Directors underscored the need for a flexible and adaptive program, the integration of fragility, conflict, and violence (FCV) considerations, and protection of human capital, highlighted priorities such as food security, education, regional integration, and cross-cutting investments in infrastructure, logistics, and digital connectivity including through platforms like Mission 300, AgriConnect, and AIM2030, and acknowledged risks while urging close monitoring of fiscal and macroeconomic developments and deeper One WBG collaboration across IDA, IFC, and MIGA, as well as with the IMF and other development partners, to maximize development impact.
