Lessons Learned - Edutainment Intervention to Promote Social Cohesion Towards Venezuelan migrants in LAC
Overview & Synopsis
Latin America and the Caribbean is home to the second-largest displacement situation in the world. More than 7.9 million Venezuelans have left their country, with approximately 85 percent remaining within the region. As of 2026, Colombia hosts the largest number of Venezuelan migrants and refugees (2.9 million), followed by Peru (1.6 million), Brazil (761,000), and Ecuador (440,000). Despite their potential to contribute to host economies — IMF estimates suggest migration flows raised annual GDP growth in the largest recipient economies by 0.10 to 0.25 percentage points on average since 2017 — migrants and refugees continue to face significant barriers to socioeconomic inclusion, largely driven by xenophobia and negative public perceptions.
