Training the ABE Specialist: What Is Needed.
Overview & Synopsis
In the past, the teacher in Adult Basic Education programs acquired preparation in-service, through a self-selected academic curriculum, or on-the-job. Today, with literacy education emphasized, ABE specialist training should result from the same in-depth planning that has gone into developing programs for other fields, such as counseling, supervision, and reading.
