Sint Maarten - Improving Mental Health Services Project in Sint Maarten : Additional Financing
Overview & Synopsis
The Improving Mental Health Services Project in Sint Maarten seeks to enhance the capacity of mental health service delivery in the country. The Second Additional Financing (AF2) of US$1 million and accompanying restructuring will address funding needs associated with the construction of a new mental health facility while strengthening project implementation. The financing is complemented by US$0.5 million in additional Government counterpart funding and US$1 million from the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA) for selected Component 1 activities. The restructuring updates the results framework, introduces new service delivery indicators, reallocates project resources, revises disbursement arrangements, and strengthens institutional and legal frameworks governing the new facility. Project resources will support improvements in mental health promotion, screening, referral, and treatment services, while expanding infrastructure capacity through the completion of the new facility. These measures will enhance access to quality mental health care, strengthen system performance, and improve long-term service sustainability in Sint Maarten.
