Zimbabwe - Social Registry Support Project
Overview & Synopsis
The Social Registry Support Project for Zimbabwe aims to operationalize Zimbabwe’s social registry and expand its coverage to strengthen the targeting and delivery of social protection programs. The project will support the rollout of the Zimbabwe Integrated Social Information System (ZISO) through large-scale household enumeration and institutional capacity building. Component 1 will finance a second phase of data collection, covering an additional 160,000 households (approximately four percent of the population), building on an initial phase that is expected to reach around 80,000 households. The component will be implemented by the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare in collaboration with the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency and will incorporate robust data privacy and protection measures consistent with national legislation and international good practice. Component 2 will strengthen the social registry’s information technology infrastructure, including platform upgrades, system integration, server hosting, equipment provision, stakeholder coordination, and capacity building. The project will establish a foundation for more effective, targeted, and responsive social protection interventions in Zimbabwe.
