Interest Bearing Notes (June 2026)
Overview & Synopsis
Interest Bearing Notes is a product of the Prosperity Research Team in the World Bank’s Development Research Group. It reports on research by the team, as well as non-World Bank research, conferences, related websites, new datasets, and other research and policy-oriented news. The June edition features World Bank studies examining how automated loan approval systems can reduce gender disparities in SME lending, how firms’ carbon offset choices are shaped by reputational incentives, and why small emerging markets may offer unique diversification opportunities for global investors. It also highlights new evidence on price regulation across countries and industries. Beyond World Bank research, the newsletter covers studies on the impact of financial literacy programs and the relationship between housing access and fertility. The edition also includes two calls for papers: the 17th Emerging Markets Conference in India and the Santiago Finance Workshop in Chile.
