From Learning to Livelihood : Digital Skills Development Blueprint (2026–2035) - Building a Future-Ready Workforce for Nigeria’s Digital Economy
Overview & Synopsis
Nigeria is undergoing rapid digital transformation, creating growing demand for digital skills across all sectors. An estimated 28 million workers will require digital competencies over the next decade, yet the current skilling system struggles to meet this need due to weak foundational digital literacy, misaligned training programs, and fragmented governance and financing. The Digital Skills Development Blueprint (2026–2035) presents a comprehensive strategy to build a coherent, demand-driven national digital skills ecosystem that connects learning to employment opportunities. The Blueprint is built around three pillars: strengthening governance and financing through improved coordination, data systems, and sustainable funding; expanding foundational digital literacy by enhancing teacher capacity, digital infrastructure, competency-based learning, and assessment systems; and strengthening workforce skills and job linkages through improved TVET, tertiary, and non-formal training pathways aligned with employer demand. By transforming fragmented initiatives into an integrated skills development system, the Blueprint aims to improve employability, address labor market needs, unlock the potential of Nigeria’s young population, and position the country as a regional hub for digital talent and innovation.
