Sudan - Welfare Monitoring Survey Round V, 2026
Overview & Synopsis
As conflict continues to reshape daily life across Sudan, the need for timely, consistent monitoring of household welfare has never been more urgent. Eight months after its fourth round, the World Bank conducted the fifth round of its welfare survey between March and April 2026 - maintaining momentum in one of the world's most challenging data environments. This round retains coverage of the refugee population and examines seven critical dimensions of wellbeing: food insecurity, displacement, employment, housing, market access, and crop and livestock production. Drawing on a probability sample of 2,019 respondents across 18 states, complemented by a dedicated sample of 1,025 refugee households, the survey delivers the breadth and rigor needed to inform an effective humanitarian and policy response.
