Benin - Second Gazetted Forests Management Project : Additional Financing
Overview & Synopsis
The objective of the Additional Financing of the Second Gazetted Forests Management Project is to improve the integrated management of targeted Gazetted forests, increase sustainable production of fuelwood, and increase access to better jobs in selected value chains. Under the proposed AF, there will be no change to the Project Development Objective (PDO): to improve the integrated management of targeted Gazetted Forests (GFs), increase sustainable production of fuelwood, and increase access to better jobs in selected value chains. The proposed AF will also not require any changes to the parent project’s institutional, fiduciary, or safeguards arrangements that are currently in place. No additional safeguards policies will be triggered, and there will be no change to the Project’s safeguards category. The overall risk rating will also be kept as Low as per the latest Implementation Status and Results Report (ISR) rating from March 2026. The project will be restructured to add an additional project component, update the results framework and extend the project’s closing date from July 31, 2032, to July 31, 2033, to allow sufficient time to carry out the AF activities.
