Chapter Le proposte dei consulenti economici della CISL nella crisi degli anni Settanta
Overview & Synopsis
As the traditional means of controlling demand had not provided satisfactory results in taming the 1970s crisis, it was necessary to conceive suitable tools for fostering competitiveness while limiting inflationary phenomena. To this end, the proposals shaped by Ezio Tarantelli and Fausto Vicarelli, who acted as economic advisors of the Cisl in those years, will be recalled. We will focus on the main contents of the OPEC surplus recycling proposal, the proposal to establish an investment fund financed by wages and salary provisions, the predetermination of inflation and the “unemployed shield” proposal. We will conclude by emphasizing the need for close cooperation at the community level to ensure a sound implementation of these policies.
