Morocco Economic Update : Cementing Growth - Digital Transformation as a Productivity Impulse : Executive Summary
Overview & Synopsis
Morocco’s economy is experiencing its strongest growth cycle in over a decade, with real gross domestic product (GDP) growth at 4.9 percent in 2025. Growth is expected to reach 4.2 percent in 2026 amid heightened global uncertainty. To cement this momentum, the special focus of this edition examines a critical dimension of the productivity challenge: the incomplete digital transformation. This incomplete digitalization carries substantial economic costs: firms that move from mere adoption to intensive use achieve productivity gains of up to 70 percent and employment growth of 10 percent. Closing the digital gap to the level of comparator countries could raise aggregate productivity by 10 to 15 percent. Such a transformative gain will go a long way toward cementing economic growth.
